One, if the Pack doesn't win the whole thing, it's not going to be because Rodgers didn't carve up the opposing D.  It's going to be the PACKERS D, and/or special teams.  Aaron is on fire, and he is really solid and unflappable at this point. His confidence has to be THROUGH THE ROOF.

This. Our Defense, mainly Dom Capers' weak zone defensive schemes, and Special Teams have single handily cost us games in the post-season, and probably a few Super Bowl appearances

In typical Bill Belichick fashion, his answer to the reporter's question is gold.

Reporter: How much does home-field advantage help you?

Belichick: "I don't know. Go ask Dallas and Kansas City."

Speaking of QB's, there was an article on ESPN debating whether we have the best Championship Weekend Final 4 QB's of all time this year.  Interesting thought.  I'm hard pressed to find many years that come close.  1992 and 1993 may be close.  But outside of those years, I think this may just be the best final 4 QB's ever.

Link here if anyone wanted to read it:  https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/18496185/is-best-qb-final-four-nfl-history-2016-nfl-playoffs-conference-championships

A good read. '93 was indeed something with Montana, Kelly, Young and Aikman.  Not mentioned in the article was '73 (I only know this because I heard it on the radio).  Tarkenton, Staubach, Stabler and Griese.
...going along with Dragon Attack's Queen thread has been like taking a free class in Queen knowledge. Where else are you gonna find info like that?!

HAHA, I don't want to sound like I'm dictating the conversation!  It's a good topic, I was just saying that I wasn't thinking of that when I went down this path.

I also clearly am using the wrong terms here, and that's my fault.  I'm not suggesting that Ben isn't one of - if not THE - toughest QBs in the league.  I admire the guy, and think he's excellent.  I was just saying, though, that I think he can be gotten to physically.  I think you can take advantage of his wanting to extend every play to the last drop.  The human body can only take so much, he's 34, and every hit adds up.

I'm certainly am not criticizing Ben; I'm more thinking in terms of team strategy than anything else.

I agree with all of this.

It's going to be interesting to see how this game unfolds, along with the NFC game. It should be a great weekend for football!!

I am so looking forward to the games this weekend. My #1 worry/concern is hoping, no, begging that the refs don't interfere with any of the games with either ridiculous calls or missed calls or whatever. There always seems to be some controversy at some point.

If anyone still cares, Antonio Brown had a press conference yesterday to address the local media about this FB live stuff.... It was amazing.

To start he went through and read the scripted apology his PR guy gave him, the usual stuff..."I apologize for my actions" "I got caught up in the moment" "Like a man, I want to take responsibility for my mistakes"...etc...etc... Basically if you've ever heard an athlete read an apology for something you get the idea.

Then he takes questions from the media and it all goes down hill... :lol Someone asked him if he was getting paid to FB live (it's pretty much all but confirmed he is, about $250,000), his answer was that he can't say because it's "top secret".  :\

Then someone else asks him if he's going to do the social media thing again in the locker room after a game. All he has to say is NO. That's it. What does he say? “I guess you’ve got to wait and see.”  :rollin

Oh and the best part to top it all off: He was over an hour late to the press conference, a press conference to apologize for his social media being a distraction, because he was getting his haircut and broadcasting it on his SnapChat. Can't make this stuff up. I'd like to say I'm pissed as a Steeler fan, at this point I'm not even mad, I'm impressed.

So Oakland is moving to Las Vegas

Personally I think that's where the Chargers should have gone and Oakland should have stayed.  Sucks for the fans of these teams.

^^This. Why Chargers chose LA is perplexing. Oakland loses a second time. It will be interesting to see a Vegas team though.

I hate this Raiders move. And the Bay Area is a much, much bigger market than Vegas is, so I kind of question how well this is going to turn out.

I don't have data to back this, just my feeling, but I think the tourism to Vegas will help fill the stadium 8 times a year.  Sunday gameday in Vegas could be an amazing experience.  Actually, it already is in the sports betting area of the casinos.

It seems like the TV/merch money would end up being significantly worse, though. And being able to fill the stadium is one thing, but selling expensive seat licenses to locals, which is where you can really make big money on a stadium, seems like a tougher sell.

Merch maybe you have a point there, but TV money is split between the teams and the NFL has a massive contract for TV so I don't think that plays a role here.

ST is a weakness but it's definitely improved with Ron Zook. Shawn Slocum SUCKED and needed to be fired about 5 years before he was. Our D-line is decent and our linebackers are fine, it's the secondary. Randall blows and shouldn't be on the team next year. We need CBs badly, and our secondary coach needs to get fired which he probably will after the season since he was arrested for a DUI.

Vegas seems like a Raiders type of town.  And the Raiders culture is so popular and far reaching, filling seats shouldn't be a problem.  Actually, I've seen Chargers fans wanting to become Raiders fans since the announcement to leave SD.

Yeah, you got me on the TV part, I must be reading too much baseball news. And merch is ultimately pretty insignificant compared to stadium revenue. It really comes down to whether you can get people to drop $40k (or some other astronomical amount of money) on a seat license for a new stadium. Having good young talent and a playoff season helps a lot. Right now Mark Davis, by NFL standards, has to be a penny pincher, because he just doesn't have the money a lot of other owners do. If he gets $100m in annual profits from a new stadium like Jed York and the 49ers, suddenly he doesn't have to worry as much about whether he can afford a top notch coaching staff and facilities. Oakland wasn't going for it, so he has to move on.

It will be interesting to see how Vegas teams do (in terms of local support). They are going from no major sports franchises to having  NFL and NHL teams. Big change for the town.

Vegas is a sports betting capitol.  Should be business as usual.  Not much of a change at all.

The fans in Oakland have to be going crazy, as I know the Warriors are also moving out of Oakland across the bay to SF in 2019. Yes, it's not a huge geographical move, and they weren't the "Oakland Warriors" but it's technically out of Oakland.

I don't know much details about Oakland. Were they unable to get a new stadium deal there like San Diego?
All of this has happened before and all of this will happen again

Vegas is a sports betting capitol.  Should be business as usual.  Not much of a change at all.

Agreed, but I think the NHL team is more likely to struggle.  Hockey in the heat hasn't been terribly popular in the past and with 41 home games, that's a lot more seats to sell than an NFL team.

Well, they do have SJ, LA, Phoenix, Dallas, and a couple of Florida teams. They seem to be doing ok in the heat. I think Vegas is a different type of city though, it's gonna be interesting to see.

Out of all those, I believe LA is the only one doing well.  Phoenix is a disaster.  I'm not saying it'll fail, but I think it'll be more difficult than the NFL team.
