Has anyone done a worst song ever around and judged based on how awful it was?

I did this in my first roulette for the hell of it and I found it very funny. Though the actual theme was 'make me laugh', but that generally resulted in people demding very bad stuff.
Hey dude slow the fuck down so we can finish together at the same time.

Um, so, was your song meant for preliminary round 1 or actual main competition round 1? :P

Round 1.

Round 1.

It's genius to answer the question "This round 1 or that round 1?" with "Round 1." :lolpalm:

Alright, I'm going to assume you meant the latter.

I think since he's technically through the "preliminary" round, he means actual round 1.

I guess so, just found it funny.

Anyway, I'm off to do a few more listens. I will be away for the most part of Saturday, but I should be back that evening and I'll post tidbits then. Results are likely to be posted Sunday evening, or in a worst case scenario, Tuesday. Won't be able to post them on Monday since I've got Steven Wilson's show to attend.

After a well-thought theatrical few days long pause, Parama sweeps in and sends his song for the preliminary round #1 too. Now we've got eleven contestants!

Does anyone want to bet he makes it past this round?

it's more like "wow i have no clue what to send Evermind" and then "oh yeah i guess this would probably be a decent shot, except it has 20 seconds of growls" and then "ehh whatever i'm going to get eliminated anyways" more than "long theatrical pause"  :lol

You've got to admit that "after a long well-thought theatrical pause Parama sweeps in" sounds more dramatic than "fuck I don't know what to send, oh, hello growls, suck it Evermind, take this".

I do enjoy the growls if they're done right, The Human Equation is a perfect example of that. I might even ignore growls if the song itself is fantastic, Light of Day, Day of Darkness is the perfect example of that.

But this is a rare thing indeed.

Haken - Streams

Awesome song, but it had more than 10 seconds of death growls, fuck you.

Rage of Despair (Flaming Row/Elinoire) is the song that helped me tolerate growls that are in moderation, and fit the overall theme of (or moment in) the song.

Also, was just re-reviewing the banned list, and you get a big-ass :wtf: on "it was alright, but nothing special” banned list" for the following:

Circus Maximums
Lord
Innershine
Mind's Eye
Pendragon
Silent Memorial

Haken is a weird one for me. I like some songs and then I completely can't stand the others.

Chad, regarding those bands:

Everything except Mind's Eye was indeed nothing special. I admit I didn't check out Mind's Eye yet but I didn't want to receive it yet again so I lumped it in this list. Circus Maximus was probably the biggest disappointment among those - I couldn't find anything to latch on.

I was surprised to see Lost Horizon on that list. They were the first band I thought of when I saw the initial banned list. I figured they'd be right up Ruslan's alley.
would have thought the same thing but seeing the OP was TAC i immediately thought Maiden or DT related

And yeah, Lost Horizon are incredible.

I would honestly say that Circus was a grower band. It took me a good five or so spins before Nine got beyond 'meh' range for me. Now I frikkin dig the album.

Sent something on a whim. Don't know what I'll send next if I actually qualify, but thought I should give it a shot, given how much of my current and likely upcoming music rotation is Evermindian in origin.

I'm also going to put some lyrics from the songs I've received in the current round in the title. If you know the lyric line, you might be able to guess what some people have sent. (If you Google it, you suck. :lol )

Well there's that. :lol

425, you're in and I'll check your song out. The new songs from 425 and Parama might push the results to late Monday evening, but I'll try not to let this happen by doing an extensive listening today and tomorrow.

Anyway, tidbits are coming up in an hour or so.

I know what title change means :corn

Well, it's just a lyric from a song I've got in this round, and in this case, it's reflecting the quality of the whole round. It's a fantastic batch of songs barring a few. It actually doesn't mean I liked or disliked that particular song, if anyone were wondering.

The time for entering will pass when I post the tidbits, which is in ~30 minutes.

About the results, see this:

I'll do my best to get them up tomorrow, but it could be Monday. I don't want it to be Monday because I probably won't want to do anything after that Steven Wilson show, but it could happen. I'd say results tomorrow is the most probable outcome.

The sign-ups are closed.

Alright, so before Parama and 425 threw their hats in the ring, I pretty much had this all outlined. Two participants were supposed to be in, six players were to proceed in Preliminary Round #2 and two unfortunate players were going to be eliminated. Now with two new contestants I'm not really sure how this will go, I need to listen to their songs to make a decision. And, well, since I'm aiming to post the results tomorrow, the exact amount of people who are in and out is going to be a surprise for you.

(I think the two best songs are absolutely safe though.)

Anyway, here are the tidbits. Have at it and let the speculation / discussion begin!

Oooh, someone from the invitees is probably going to be disappointed.

This song is a lot of fun. So did he rape her dead body first and then got on with eating that heart he ripped out from her?

What’s up with all these bands with Russian words in their names? I mean, I’d understand if there was one, but two?

I feel this song could use a sequel. How about “I’d buy you dinner if I had money / I’d lift you if I had a car”? Write the next two lines yourself!

Out of three longer progressive rock songs I received in this round, this one is undoubtedly the best, and while the other two are fighting for survival as we speak, you’re definitely in the safe zone at least.

So after all this talk you decided to go ahead and send me djent? Well, I think Tyrias might have some bad news for you.

Nooo noo you got it all wrong. First he rips her heart out, then eats it, and then continues the rape. I hope "a lot of fun" is enough to get me through  :hat
