Eliminating people through preliminary rounds is a tough thing to do - especially when they send good music.  That happened to me in my roulette's with RJ, Kingshmegland, Prog Snob, and Nekov.  Ya just need to put on your big boy panties, and kick the worst songs out.

And Mason. He sent you that fantastic Phideaux song and you've just heartlessly eliminated him.

Ok last question before sending: don't you mind 'breathy' kind of vocals?

Well... I don't really like JLB breathy vocals on the last album. I thought it was a letdown at The Theater Equation too - he did much better job on the actual THE. If you can provide another example, I'll tell you more.

Think something along the lines of the beginning of DT's Surrounded.

Well, actually it's not something I like a lot. I prefer my male vocalists' voices to sound more full, if that makes sense. I might like the female voice sounding this way though, but no guarantee. But hey, I might like the male voice sounding like that too. Depends on the song I guess.

Send and find out!

Oh shit, I forgot to say anything about classical music! Thank god Lucien didn't sign up. I like classical music, but please refrain from sending it in this roulette.

Jazz, yeah, I think I would enjoy jazz. Can this be considered jazz? If yes, yeah, I think I'll enjoy this kind of stuff.

I surely won't send *real* classical music but maybe something modern or with classical influence.
Also, is that Gilmour's song something that would be ok for round 4 since it has sax?

Yeah, that Gilmour song would've been quite great for Round 4.

Alright guys, so here is the drill: three persons out of eight have sent their songs already. Tomorrow is a full-blown Steven Wilson's day for me, and while I will probably be able to post some small responses from work, I won't be there most of the evening and will probably show up only at night. I'm still there for ~20 minutes or so for today, so if you've got any questions, fire them up now.

However, depending on how good Steven Wilson's gig will be, I might have a day-off at Tuesday to sleep and just enjoy a rare occurence when I don't have to work at the actual working day, and if other people's opinions are any indication, I'm definitely going to have a day-off because SW gigs seem to be always great. And since I'll most probably have a day-off, I will be able to dedicate a great deal of time to listening to your songs. So in order to speed up this roulette, I'd appreciate if the second preliminary round contestants send me their songs today or tomorrow. No pressure though, because I don't want to inflict any strict deadlines - we're all people and we all got our real lives to deal with - but it would be nice indeed.

OK I'm not associated with this roulette at all, but I'm confused, how does the quality of the SW show affect whether or not you get the day off?

Well if it's great, I'll just call and take a day off to enhance my experience even further with a huge load of sleep on Tuesday which is something I don't ever get. If it sucks, I may as well go to work and not bother. :lol

Ah, damn, got cockblocked for Kansas. I was going to send the song Miracles Out of Nowhere from their (imo) excellent album Leftoverture in the 4th round due to it having a voilin. As that is one of the rounds my selection is still rather limited for, I will have to think about it a bit more I guess  :P

I never considered Avenged Sevenfold, but I do love some of their albums/songs quite a bit, and that tune is indeed a lot of fun.

And a question, do you mind intrumental songs? Also, have fun on the SW concert! I already said it in the SW thread, but they were fantastic two weeks ago.

I was really hoping to get though automatically with that song, now I have to decide which of my selections is worth blowing on a second preliminary. I'll send something later today.

Edit: Fuck it, sent. No idea if Big Hath will send this aswell or not. :lol

I just played that Redemption song (which I had rated rather low originally) and I liked it.  That rarely happens with me but it clicked this time around.

Keep the cock blocks/ Dick Picks "coming" because it's all good for helping me cull my list of "possibles".     That was a strong round - looking forward to another very strong qualifying round  :metal  :D

and that A7X song is a pisser :lol

Sucks that Redemption is out.

I don't see any advantages of cock blocking.  Why not just use that band straight up if you don't want another competitor using them?

I KNEW IT!!! I'm glad I used Kansas right away.

I have several songs that use the instruments mentioned, so I'm totally hoping that I make it through.

A) I can be a big dick   Call it over-compensation :lol   :|
B) I can't use 3 bands in Round 1
C) Good time to test the waters, and check/verify what kind of music is going to do well
D) I've got more than 8 rounds of music to share (assuming I make it past the 'cut' round)

@ Brent... no use in trying to rock-block you.  That well of yours runs way too deep.

Just remembered the perfect song for round 4, I'm no longer worried about having sent A Little Piece of Heaven, just hope Evermind doesn't knwo this one as it's fairly popular.

people on this board are actual music fans who developed taste in music and not casual listeners who are following current fashion trends and listening to only current commercial hits.
