Before James came in, just looking at the video without sound, it looked like they were about to drop the most metal tune of the century. Seriously man, that badass JLB beard doesn't fit The Astonishing  :lol
people on this board are actual music fans who developed taste in music and not casual listeners who are following current fashion trends and listening to only current commercial hits.

Great video, though it was pretty funny seeing James standing there swaying in the instrumental :lol

Btw this is not in the Astonishing page in the second video slot. Is there more or they just didnt updated it yet?

I would say this is probably the second video, and the site hasn't been updated yet.

Yep. I think the only party in the MP/DT situation that hasn't moved on is DTF.

Repost from other thread:

Wow, that's a good video by DT standards.  :rollin

My two gripes are 1) they do not focus on Mangini during the parts I am most interested in, and 2) in the closing, the camera captured all members except Myung.

Nice one... agree about the low rez graphics though...

And did anyone else notice a Nomac dissapearing towards the top left of the frame like if it slid out of the edge but still inside... not the best editing

The performance are pretty cool, but...these graphics. Not digging them at all, and I kinda start worrying about the imagery they will use live.

Nyeeeeeehhhh yeah I guess it was nice. I was expecting more of the characters to show up, but I assume they didn't want to show cardboard cutouts of them. They could've used illustrations, but I guess there was also a budget :lol

IDK what the last few posts are on about, but as far as the video...

I like it! I like DT's image these days. The Mangini shots were cool. Animation as cheesy, but not as bad or prominent as I expected. And, of course, I love this song, so it's cool to see them play it. I wonder if they will use this video or sections of it, like the animation, as a backdrop live?

That was a great video! The animation parts of the video weren't bad or overly cheesy like the trailer and everything worked and flowed very well.

Very cool video.  It always amazes me how sometimes the music can sound somewhat "simplistic" (relatively speaking of course), yet when you actually see the band playing, it shows how intricate the songs are and how technically proficient each member is with their instrument.  It was that way for me with Live Scenes from New York when I saw them play the music for the first time and was blown away at how much goes on during even the most "simple" DT songs.  Very impressive as always.

Looking forward to seeing them live!

I loved the video and especially the nomac that was pulsating like a sub woofer. :metal  Reminded me of the bass on my 5.1 surround system.
The concert should be interesting live.

The video is really cool! I love these "performance" style music videos.

I really wish Mike Mangini would make a drumming video like how MP used to - playing through all the songs and maybe even explaining some of the intricate parts. I think that would do a world of good towards convincing the skeptics who aren't so high on his playing. On the other hand we have MM fans who say his parts are so complicated but the production doesn't allow them to be heard. I think MP's reputation was largely built by his own efforts in explaining to the fans exactly what he was playing - and how he composed his parts. Once we heard that, we could listen to the music with new ears and appreciate his drumming more. I wish MM would do the same.

I'm scratching my head as to why they made a music video for this. Come on DT, it's a concept album. For this type of album, a video of you lip syncing and playing air guitar seems out of place.
Sorry if I'm to cynical here, but why???
"The thing that kills me is all these bands that use huge words in their lyrics, 'I'm swimming in a vortex of apathy.' I'm like, 'What?' I don't walk up to a friend and go 'That's a stylin' looking vortex of apathy you've got there pal. I was swimming up a river of deceit myself."

Did anyone else notice the NOMAC's getting cut off when they fly out at 0:35? There's a comment about it on the video. I knew the CGI was pretty bad, but I would have hoped someone would have caught this before the video went out.
