What if the toaster oven also had a clock on it?  Mind blown.

I actually had one of those.

Honest to god, though, and not to further steer the discussion in any direction, but I never once ever made toast in it.

(I don't know how to put pictures in here, but it was a Bosch appliance).

Brian, you will lose in a landslide. :lol

I won the last landslide that tried to bury me.

What do you mean you won? It was a poll about two movies, that you started. The question had nothing to do with you personally or burying you. Grow up.

The question asked for the expected outcome of an event. The one I selected proved true, the one 89.4% of you picked didn't come close to fruition (still $750M short btw). As for the 'bury' comment, I was just trying to get clever in response to "landslide". My apologies for not being as witty as some pf the people here. This is all 100% in good fun. No need to tell me to grow up.

The second word of its title implies that it's a clock that can do other things.

Now... what if one of these toaster oven clocks was moving at near the speed of light, while another toaster oven clock stood still on earth.  What time would each clock read?

More importantly, is the bread in them toasting at different rates?

Right, but you wouldn't call that thing just an "alarm". It's either a clock, alarm clock, digital clock, etc. Clock is an essential part of that name because that's its primary function.

Same goes for a toaster oven. Its primary function is to be a smaller oven. Sure, it toasts things, but so does a full size oven; you wouldn't call the thing under your stove a toaster. The toaster is simply made to toast. The toaster oven can almost anything a full size oven can - you said so yourself. They merely decided to put in the word "toaster" to let the customer get a better idea of the size and power of what they were buying. Instead of calling it a mini oven, a counter-top oven, or oven lite, they decided to stick in the name of the other small cooking appliance that commonly sits on the counter and is lower power: a toaster.

This is not to be confused with the nomenclature of the microwave oven which I could probably type another two paragraphs about.

P.S. Now I really want a toaster oven.

Can you guys please lay off Chino?   And let him get back to his day?  He has to fix his el Camino (now and forever a "car", not a "pickup truck") and go watch a movie with his girl on his Playstation (which, despite the Blu-ray drive, will now and forever be a "gaming system", not a "DVD player").

It's a clock radio. Which is it?

Clock. Because no one in this day and age to going to buy that to simply have a radio, or if they do, it's in very specific situations. In this kind of nomenclature, usually the primary function of the device wins out.

1. The car/truck example doesn't work because the pickup truck describes the type of car, similar to a microwave oven.

2. This is all mostly in jest. There's no need to white knight Chino.  ;)

Right.  Just not in the instance of the term "toaster convection oven".

I made a post on another site asking what people call it. I'm actually interested to see the proportion of people who call it a toaster. I honestly bet it's more common than we're giving Chino shit for. I'll let you guys know if it goes around a lot. So far I have 1 vote for toaster oven.

Either way I'm pretty sure we can all agree that Chino is a horrible person and should be burned at the stake in a toaster oven for this.

Are you asking if they call it a toaster or an over?  It's called a toaster oven and I always used it primarily as a toaster because I have a real oven.  The toaster part of a toaster oven is so unique because it allows you to make toasted sandwiches which a traditional toaster does not allow.

I gave no options. It's a completely open response.

Edit: So far it's 6 for toaster oven, 1 for microwave, 1 for grill, and 1 for toasty toasty grill thingy. Things aren't looking good for Chino.  :lol

The other day I pumped gas for the first time while the engine was running. It was totally by accident. After I was done I couldn't find my keys, and sure enough they were still in the ignition... with the engine on!
