Yes I seem to remember we called it a Chai Latte.

Or the actual Chai Tea - which meant they wanted the tea bag in a cup with hot water

It's a it like saying ATM Machine :P

People make those mistakes all of the time when it comes to abbreviations. For example, at my job we use WICs on the routers for additional interfaces. A lot of people call them WIC cards which is redundant because WIC stands for WAN Interface Card. Actually with WAN they make the same mistake when they say WAN network since WAN stands for wide-area network.   :lol

I like coffee, but I am certainly no coffee snob.

And I don't like black coffee.  At all.  I prefer cream and sugar, and plenty of it (well, I'm diabetic, so I switched to Splenda instead of sugar, but whatever).
Hef is right on all things. Except for when I disagree with him. In which case he's probably still right.

I can only drink black coffee if the coffee is actually made well. DD coffee tastes horrible to me if I drink it black. As a matter of fact, even adding milk and coffee doesn't fix the taste for me, so I never go there anymore.

I'm at Starbucks just killing time. I asked about the Origins Espresso and they said they don't have it here. I ordered the Flat White and for that they use something called Ristretto Espresso.

Yeah that's just the house blend. Ristretto is just a stronger mixture. In Costa - Ristretto used more of the actual bean in the espresso.

I'm probably going to head to Starbucks later when I go to the bank. I think I'll get the latte macchiato again.

There's no Costa or Starbucks anywhere close to my house but we have a Coffee #1 which is basically the same idea.

Nicer than Starbucks but not as nice as Costa. I had a stunning muffin today and a pot of Earl Grey Tea :)

Damn those muffins are so good. Really fluffy and tasty.

So am I the only one who dislikes the taste of coffee in general?
Literally every time I tell someone I don't like coffee they are shocked. There has to be someone else!

I was a tea drinker for many a year. I've only become a huge coffee drinker in the last few years.

I dislike most coffees from most places. If you mess up making coffee, it's going to taste terrible. I do prefer tea because I think it has a better taste, but the problem is generic brands like Lipton are horrible so I never ever go for those.

No.

Ristretto and lungo are variations of the length of extraction of an espresso shot. Ristretto is a shorter extraction and lungo is a longer extraction than normal. Ristretto is on the low end of amount of bean being extracted, but it gives a higher concentration by volume. It is also not necessarily stronger than other lengths, it leaves behind many of the elements of the bean that take longer to extract . None of them are better, they just give different taste profiles.

That makes sense when you actually translate the words ristretto and lungo. Ristretto means restricted and lungo intuitively means long.

I'm a huge coffee lover, but given that I work as a programmer, that's almost a given.  :tup

We have only but a few Starbucks here in Stockholm so I get most of my daily dose either from the excellent machine here at work or from Espresso House and I usually drink either a Soya Latte or regular coffe with some Soya Milk in it.

I've never looked into those. Right now, I'm slowly teaching myself C and Python. Mainly because I want to create my own networking penetration testing tools. Anybody can download software and hack things but I feel more accomplished if I can design something of my own, even if it's just something simple like a pinger or something.

My favourite coffee chain is Costa.

Coffee #1 are pretty good. Caffe Nero are not bad.

Yeah yeah I know I should support my local mum & dad store and I do. But those places - you never know what youre gonna get a lot of times. Sometimes it's instant coffee with steamed milk.

or their lattes are really small.

Costa "large" lattes are properly massive and that's why I go there.

I do a Cafetiere if I have time.

I almost never drink instant coffee anymore. It just doesn't taste the same...

I get coffee at Dunkin Donuts.  I have a brew station that stores the coffee in a well.  You push against the button to serve the coffee.  I love it.

I actually like Starbucks a bit, but I think that's cause here in Australia there's not many of them.  The closest one is about an hour away, so I think it's the novelty factor.

Starbucks is hit or miss for me. It really depends on whether or not the fucktards behind the counter know how to make it. Dunkin Donuts is a big NO NO for me. I've tried it numerous times and it's just...shite.  :lol

The thing I hate about Starbucks is that they're so fucking desperate to make friends with the customers. They have to ask my name (to write on the cup, I get it, but other places manages fine without doing that!) and they have to make small talk. If I'm waiting for my coffee, I'm usually NOT in a good mood to talk to coffee hipsters who's trying too hard to act like they're interested. I want my damn coffee!

Espresso House never does that! Plus, for some reason, they seem to hire a lot of cute girls, which is always a plus. :coolio

If I must - I always get whatever origins espresso they're offering.

The "house" blend is so nasty.

I actually don't mind Starbucks, they have a lot of good drinks, their actually coffee is just terrible. They can get away with having horrible quality coffee because their non-coffee drinks or the milk-based drinks with syrup are so popular now.

Their traditional drip brew coffee is typically bitter and acidic, and is a super dark roast which tries to cover up the poor quality of the beans they use.

Try an origins espresso latte next time. Usually they taste so much nicer than the regular beans.

Will do. I don't think I've ever had Starbucks espresso.
