The thing I hate about Starbucks is that they're so fucking desperate to make friends with the customers. They have to ask my name (to write on the cup, I get it, but other places manages fine without doing that!) and they have to make small talk. If I'm waiting for my coffee, I'm usually NOT in a good mood to talk to coffee hipsters who's trying too hard to act like they're interested. I want my damn coffee!

Espresso House never does that! Plus, for some reason, they seem to hire a lot of cute girls, which is always a plus. :coolio

I fucking hate how they ask for your name too.  I obviously get why, but just fucks me off.  I just give them a stupid fake name each time.  :lol

I don't mind them asking my name that much. What I fucking hate is that they never call your name when it's ready so you're sitting there like a fucking schnook waiting for your coffee to be ready.

My Dad got me one of these coffee pots. You put water in the base and coffee grounds in the middle and you heat it on the hob.

The water in the base boils through the coffee and ends up in the top part.

:)

I guess I made a decaf last night before bed and I naturally went straight to it this morning.

Had shower now. Time for a proper coffee

I made some coffee for myself, but I'm out of milk and sweetener. Instead I add cinnamon and cayenne powder to the grinds to give it a kick.

My New Year's Rez is to kick sugar so no coca cola etc or biscuits or cake...

So I can only have latte at home because white americano with no sugar is foul imo.

All the milk in a latte makes it sweet enough to be palatable for me.

I get that. Sometimes I just add milk for that little bit of sweetness. If it's bad coffee, I need to add sugar for the taste, especially if it's Dunkin Donuts.

Haha. I only get coffee from a good cafe in town or Costa. My favourite " high st Chain "... I can't stand Starbucks.

I don't know how it got so popular . It's just nasty nasty stuff.

Any high street "mom & pop" cafe will make a good cappuccino for you.

Starbucks is horrid.

I make a better latte in my home with a cefetiere and boiled milk than i could get at a Starbucks

I definitely prefer a good cafe to a coffee chain. They put more care into their products. Since I am working the overnight shift the next few months, DD is unfortunately the only thing open at that time.

Is it awful ?

It has to be at least on par with Starbucks. I mean. I'd buy a starbucks coffee if there was nothing else.

I really don't like DD coffee. It never tastes right. I can't quite pinpoint what it is.

The DD near our place either has a burnt taste or if I request sugar 1 sugar = 5 at this DD.

Ironically, DD uses a MUCH higher quality bean than Starbucks does. I've never had a cup of coffee at Starbucks that tasted as good as a DD coffee.

How does everyone take their coffee?

I used to put a lot of sugar in and used that delicious ass international delight creamer, which basically was like crack, and I was putting on too many pounds from that non-sense

So now I just do two sugars and use 1% milk instead of Half and half or creamer.

Before I embarked on this No Sugar rule since Jan 1st - I'd have a sugar in my tea and coffee - esp if it was filter / americano.

Now I have 0 sugar in my tea and I have latte because the milk makes up for lack of sugar.

Americano with milk normally. Latte with 1 sugar ( but not for the forseeable ).

:)

Also - I can't drink black coffee. Makes me gag.

I don't drink coffee, I see myself out...

PS. I do love the smell of coffee though.

Yeah, me too. The older I get, the more I enjoy the taste of the coffee itself and the less I put in it.

For me, I found that I have to put less stuff in, if I grind my beans right before making a pot. Using the pre-ground stuff is night and day different in flavor than actually grinding right before.

Yeah, for sure, coffee tastes so much better when it's ground fresh.

Revival... cuz Coffee never goes away!

I grew tired of the Keurig. It's convenient, easy, and fast, but the quality just wasn't what I'm looking for. I'm no coffee snob, but I appreciate good quality things, and I take pride in creating a quality product.

So I recently purchased an SCAA (Specialty Coffee Association of America) certified coffee maker and a manual conical burr grinder.  Now I'm slowly cycling through good beans, some single origin stuff. Right now I'm drinking a https://perccoffee.com/shop/guatemala-ixlama-lot-1. Amazing!

And I'm not a black coffee guy, even though I CAN drink it, it's not preferred. I like light milk, light sugar. Just enough to make it NOT black coffee lol.

One of my teenage boys recently took a part time job at a new start up coffee chain.  They do not let the coffee beans stay on the shelf more than 3 weeks then it is tossed but the employees can take it.  They sell their various types of coffee for $30.00/ lb.  I now have a pantry full of amazing varieties.  I grind at night, set the auto brew and wake to a great pot each day.

And grinding your own beans is so much less bitter than anything you can buy pre-ground.
But the arc of your life will still be profound

Agreed. Grinding is night and day better than the preground. If I can, I definitely will grind
