Someone in the top 5 has sent a dud and lost his place  :corn
I wonder if this one is decided after the relistening bonuses, or does this person still have a chance to enter the finals with relistening results?
Mmnn I didn't add up those yet so who knows :P

So I've revisited rounds 6 to 9 (:neverusethis:) and I've got to say, I didn't expect some of these tracks to grow on me like they did. Sadly, round 7 didn't have any of them. One exception below. As before, short writeups.

Round 2

(425) Bon Iver - Skinny Love
The biggest grower on the whole damn roulette - I just love this more with each listen, and the only track from previous rounds I felt like revisiting for this ocassion. Damn, how this went from a +4 to this, is beyond me.
Previous score: +3.5
New score: 4

Round 6

(Tyrias) Azedia - Requiem for the New World
Ok I realize I was too harsh with this one. Yeah, the narration turns me off, but it doesn't last as much as I thought it did. Also, the instrumentation is pretty nice too, although I feel it drags a bit overall. Sorry for the rant back then  .
Previous score: 3
New score: 3.5

(Biskit) Pearl Jam - Black
The reason this one got a 3 was before although I like what I heard, I strugguled to remember anything from it except some vocal melodies. Now I realise that's because this band doesn't have an instantly recognizable, unique sound to them. And most melodies here aren't really memorable tbh. That being said, I have grown to appreciate the emotional power behind it, but just that.
Previous score: 3
New score: 3.5

(Shadow Ninja 2.0) Steam Powered Giraffe - Brass Goggles
Why is this so awesome?
Previous score: +4
New score: 4.5

Round 8

(home) God Is an Astronaut - Fire Flies And Empty Skies
So this might not be the most creative song on the roulette, and post-rock is certainly a genre I feel I'm done with having listened to the big artists. However this grew a bit on me. With that said, when it gets good, like in the last minute, it just ends in a really abrup way. So I don't think I can score it more than this.
Previous score: +3
New score: 3.5

(Elite) Theodor Bastard - Umbraya Erze
For some reason this kind of music makes me travel to distant, surreal landscapes. And I love it when it happens. Plus, I'm a bit of a sucker for this kind of dark world music with some tribal stuff in.
Previous score: +4
New score: 4.5

Round 9

(Parama) The Hirsch Effekt - Bezoar
This song is still a fucking mess, but now it's actually enjoyable for some reason. The "extreme" moments are still my least favourite, for I feel they're heavy for the sake of it, and to me that's pointless.
Previous score: 2.5
New score: 3

(Bolsters) - Pilgrim
Excellent production and vocals, but that trumpet still annoys me a bit.
Previous score: 3
New score: 3.5

(sneakyblueberry) Jeff Buckley - Vancouver
Well, Jeff surely put a lot of passion on his singing here.
Previous score: 3
New score: 3.5

(425) Bruce Dickinson - Arc of Space
I guess I just don't connect with the songwriting and how this song is built, yet the score I gave it before feels unfair.
Previous score: 3
New score: 3.5

(home) London Grammar - Hey Now
I'm in love with this - fantastic atmosphere and excellent vocals. It ends a bit abrupt tho.
Previous score: +4
New score: 4.5

.
.
.
Standings
36.5 - Fluffy Lothario
36.5 - Elite
+35.5 - Bolsters
+35 - home
34.5 - Biskit
+33.5 - Train of Naught
+33.5 - Shadow Ninja 2.0
(33.5 - Symphony)
+33 - Parama
+32.5 - Evermind
+32 - senecadawg2
+32 - Tyrias
+31.5 - 425
31 - splent
30 - Sneakyblueberry
27 - mikemangioy
.
.

So yet another tie in the lead, how surprising. Now home is pretty much into the finals at this point, as well as the Biskit. But will it remain this way with the next round? I may have talked too soon to predict if someone fell out of the top 5, but who knows...

Reminder Round 10 results will be up this Wednesday evening GMT -3.

Also, even after relistens, round 9 is still the weakest round  :lol

gonna have to strongly disagree with you there.  even as someone only somewhat acquainted with their sound, it's pretty easy to tell a Pearl Jam song once it pops on, even if it's just through Eddies vocal.  He's the pioneer of that sort of drawly, almost Texan-sounding singing style that got absolutely raped in the post-Grunge era (i'm looking at you, Scott Stapp you crazy bastard).

And most melodies here aren't really memorable tbh

Dunno, it's one of those tracks that leave little mark on me. Like, it enters through an ear, and gets out by the other :P

Ironically, it's the brass that I originally thought you would like about the song. :lol

Thought this would happen, my last half of the scores were already pretty solid apart from aerials and path to a lesser extent. I'm pretty much out of the race unless a miracle happens.

I'm delaying results one day because I have much shit to do today, and can barely browse DTF for a while. Tomorrow I'll have way more free time and will dedicate some hours to make this an epic last round. Well, last for 10 of you.

I think that this roulette, running for almost two months now, with 10 rounds and 15 players, can afford a one-day delay

Since it looks like I might actually be making it to the EP round: only half of my songs are on Spotify, I was thinking that I would send files for the remaining songs so that you could add them into Spotify. Unless you would prefer Youtube links?

Since I do all my listening on my pc, I'll accept files. More info on that after posting results, which should happen within the next 24 hours :tup

Yeah I woke up like at 7 am having slept only 4 hours, and needed to lay down. Now I have like 3 hours before my next class so I'm trying to get this done fast  :metal

I did 10 writeups in like 90 minutes or so each, you should only need 2 hours max with how short yours are :neverusethis:

Two hours if he decides to listen to the songs again. Otherwise, make it 30 minutes. :neverusethis:

I actually doubt he managed to listen to my song more than once.
This first band is Soen very cool swingy jazz fusion kinda stuff.

Probably a bit more than two hours - I'm relistening to all the songs while doing pretty long writeups that include a short note for each participant, meaning 10 farewells and 5 motivational speeches  ;D
