So I'm already 4 listens in, and this seems like the weakest round so far, and no song has received a 4.5. Let's see if some of these tunes grow on me. Oh, and there won't be sneakpeeks this time, sorry.

I already knew for certain this wasn't going to be a round winner, I'm hoping for a solid 3.5-ish score. I just don't have too much confidence in my list-songs, though I would've sent this album either way.

Least favorite metal subgenre? Maybe black metal, or grindcore.
I figured out how to send from my phone, so I sent black metal with pretty noticeably bad production that's still awesome in spite of it

I remember getting Oceansize — I think it was Amputee? — in my roulette and I don't even remember anything from that song whatsoever.

Wasn't it you who posted a rant about how Amputee isn't really a good song and you had twenty better songs from Oceansize to send? :lol

Yes, that was him  :lol. I still think it's a great song though.

And I remember getting a rather good score for You Wish in Sacul's last roulette, which is also an Oceansize song.

Effloresce is actually good, but nothing too remarkable imo. Most post-hardcore-related stuff is more miss than hit with me tbh.

A friend of mine who is a big fan of them describes the band as "THE progressive post-hardcore group", so there's that :P

Well your friend is wrong  :loser: unless Oceansize is musically in the same vein as Asking Alexandria, Escape the Fate and Alexisonfire, in which case I'm not familiar enough with Oceansize.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4mhZv1K92gQ the genre-noob in me says there's no obvious difference between metalcore and hardcore, and if a troll famous youtuber confirms it I believe it to be 100% true.

My friend says:
Quote
I'd argue yes - it's definitely post progressive rock but the attitude in the vocals and guitar tones are reminiscent of post hardcore-era Coheed. Not on the same level as At The Drive In though.

He exposes "Sleeping Dogs and Dead Lions" as an example of their most post-hardcore side :P

Yeah, but DT aren't a noise band just because they had a few tracks that had NOMAC buzzes on them.

I mean, I'm no expert on this stuff, and I guess people can call the band whatever they want, but I would never have thought to apply the term "post-hardcore" to Oceansize.

Sleeping Dogs and Dead Lions is a total outsider in the Oceansize discography, though  :lol
that's basically their heaviest song
and even then only the first half, the second half is more back to post-rock

I do care :P

And they're necessary, otherwise you'd have jazz along with dadrock and classical music mixed with modern pop on your local record store - it just makes searching a lot easier.
