OPENING DAY!

I may have to mute Sunday Night Baseball though. ESPN is putrid and I expect a full dick sucking of the Royals for the entire broadcast.

Utley was very clearly headhunting and did not attempt to even touch the bag.

He came from the Phillies.  He's dirty.  'Nuff said.

Cubbies beat the Angels 9-0.

I know it's one game but everything was clicking.

Oh please let this be the year. I'm going to be in Wrigleyville when it happens.

Is there an app that can track both Major and Minor league scores? (and preferably NFL and NHL also) I have Yahoo Sports and I like it, but it doesn't have MiLB. I'd hate to have another app just for MiLB.

MiLB First Pitch is the official minor league app.  Given that there are 160 different minor league teams, I don't think there is likely an app that would keep track of BOTH.  I looked briefly through Google Play store and couldn't seem to find one that would track both.

What a debut!

Quote
Story became the first player to hit two home runs in his major league debut on opening day, and both came off Greinke, one of the best pitchers in baseball.

I'm kinda glad the Red Sox opening day game was postponed. Now I can actually watch the game!
I just don't understand what they were trying to achieve with any part of the song, either individually or as a whole. You know what? It's the Platypus of Dream Theater songs. That bill doesn't go with that tail, or that strange little furry body, or those webbed feet, and oh god why does it have venomous spurs!? And then you find out it lays eggs too. The difference is that the Platypus is somehow functional despite being a crazy mishmash or leftover animal pieces

Yea, so I tried that, looks OK, but hasn't been updated since last June!   No new schedules or teams.  Games start in a couple of days.   ::)

Trevor Story makes MLB history for a very good reason.

The Padres, also make history, but for a very bad reason.

Dodgers set a new record: 31 scoreless innings to start a season.  But boy did it go terribly wrong after that!

Bryce Harper is 2nd in the majors in OPS and is the only one of the top 158 who hasn't struck out yet. Could he be even better this year?? Sky's the limit.

I still can't not think of him as the Orioles version of himself. Like I truly believe there is a serious regression right around the corner.

You're just in denial.

Even two years ago, before he entered this amazing run he's been having, he's been on. I was at a game at Wrigley, he was pitching, he took a perfect game into the 7th. I believe the next game he took a no-no into the 8th. This was two years ago mind you. Not last year's Cy Young winning year. It's his mechanics improving and Bosio being a hell of a pitching coach.

Marlins Dee Gordon suspended for PEDs.  Glad he's not on the Dodgers anymore.

Look out, CC!
For a second, I thought that was Pablo Sandoval!  Incidentally, for anyone who actually cared, the Kung-Fu Panda is out for the year and is "expected to make a full recovery for 2017".  He will NEVER play another game for the Sox.  THANK GOD!!!

Why not?
Because they realize how out-of-shape the guy is and they no longer have a position for him.  The kid who replaced him has been excellent both offensively and defensively.  Unless this shoulder surgery is a complete sham and he's off to a rehab for people with food addictions, he's only gonna get bigger for the rest of this season.  And, worrying about his belt exploding again will be the least of his worries.  He could quite possibly be the worst signing in Sox history.

Thankfully, Hanley is having fun and contributing.  Otherwise, there would still be two albatross on this team.

You're acting like this is the last year of his contract.  He still has 3 years after this.

Believe me, as a Sox fan, I know all too well how many years are left.  Unless he comes back as Pablo Sandoval and not the Fat Panda who at Pablo Sandoval, I think there's a good chance Dombrowski cuts ties with him or takes pennies on the million.   He didn't sign him.  And, if all he is is a back-up third baseman and a total waste of a roster spot who can't field or hit, why keep him?!?

Offensively, Hanley needs to get going though. No matter how much he smiles or how good his first base is, if he doesn't start hitting, he will be an albatross.

Seriously, that was one of the worst off seasons I have ever seen the Red Sox have.
would have thought the same thing but seeing the OP was TAC i immediately thought Maiden or DT related

Yep.  Ben, John Henry, Lucchino and Werner really screwed the pooch that offseason.

You're right about Hanley's offense.  The mere fact he's not really costing them games in the field playing first base is a miracle.  He'll get it going.  Hopefully, sooner than later.  Getting a walk or two wouldn't kill the guy either!
