It seems like you have a little straw man growing over there. Nobody here judged the usage based on the appearance of the player. The Mitchell Report had around 200 players listed and I can guarantee a good handful of them were probably no name players and not all of them were built like Bonds or Giambi.  So what's your point? Just who are you calling naive? We're basing our opinions on the facts at hand and nothing else.

I'm trying to be realistic.  The Mitchell Report didn't come close to sampling everybody in baseball.

Also I don't think you know what the "straw man fallacy" means.

 :lol

Okay, well you're arguing a point that was never brought up by anyone here. Your comment that we were basing our opinions based on the players physical appearance was brought up by you - nobody else.

Secondly, what does your comment on the Mitchell Report have to do with what I previously said? I was using it to prove that physical appearance is irrelevant to steroid use which is actually agreeing with what you said and defending myself against something I never said.

So Yulieski Gourriel defected and is looking to play in the majors. His ideal situation would put him with the Yankees but they don't really have a place for him as of yet. He's played in a few of the WBCs and is a top ranked player. I'd love to see him in pinstripes but I don't see it happening.

I don't see it. I think we're going to have a National League winner this year, maybe the Cubs, Cards, or Dodgers.

I'm pulling for the Cubs this year - after the Yankees of course, but I don't see the Yankees doing anything. I've been reading through a lot of material and I definitely think the Cubs are one of the teams that could do it. They've definitely improved from last year. They just lost steam in that series against the Mets.

Seriously! April is a big month this year. Besides baseball, I'm seeing DT at Radio City and Game of Thrones returns. I would love for April to be up next instead of March. I ordered a year subscription to the At Bat app so I can listen to any game plus watch the game of the day. That first spring training game is in a couple of days and every year I always listen regardless of who is playing.

I think the Brewers have been eliminated already.  :sadpanda:

that being said, they are in complete rebuild mode and have done a wonderful job of loading up the farm.  give it 3 years and look out!

Sometimes watching those rookies take form is exciting. I mean, just think about it. Just over 20 years ago Yankees fans were watching these rookies named Mariano Rivera, Derek Jeter, Jorge Posada, and Andy Pettitte, so you never know what could happen.  :)

The Brewers got a great deal in trading Segura to get Hill, who can still be productive, and Chase Anderson, who should be a solid 4th or 5th starter.  Segura may be out of MLB within a couple years at this rate.

As a Braves fan, I have another bad year to look ahead of me, but my god is the future so bright in Atlanta!

It could be worse. At least you know your team has a couple of years. You could always be a Mets fan who actually thinks the team is going to win it this year.  I feel bad for them, but they just aren't there yet.

Reminds me of how the Cubs were when Theo took over. That's how you get a good team going. Stock up the farm and develop.

It isn't MLB, but I didn't know a better place to put this.  Lefty pitcher Blake Fox from Rice University utilizes a crafty move to try to pick off a guy at first.  Unsuccessful, but damn slick.

As a small market team, my beloved Reds must continue to rebuild and reload and be fodder for other cities due to baseballs lack of a cap. My predicition....57-105. Gonna be a GREAT summer in the Queen City.  :\

The Tigers radio announcers are the greatest. They have so much to say about everyone, including the non-roster folks. I can't imagine surviving a spring training game without them. Can't wait for the season to start.

So Utley's suspension is dropped, unbelievable. No use plunking him either since he loves to lean into pitches. Not sure what but I just pray something horrible happens to him.

There were similar slides that did not get punished so therefore Utley shouldn't be. I mean I understand there are rough slides all year but Utley was very clearly headhunting and did not attempt to even touch the bag. Especially considering it was bad enough to MLB to slap the suspension on him in the first place (although that may be because it was a playoff game) I'm not sure what the heck happened here. 2 games really wasn't enough anyways but when you create a rule because of a play why in the world would you not just go through with the suspension even if only to set a precedent?

That's true. They changed a couple of rules as far as I know. One is the sliding rule and the other is the neighborhood play.

That's the former Savannah Sand Gnats team, which is the Mets A ball affiliate. Hopefully the new park is better than the old one which was apparently a brutal place to develop hitters.

Dodgers lost to KC today, only scored one run.  First game that was less than two runs and only third game where they have scored less than 5 runs.

Re Piazza and Griffey:  Not upset with this, honestly. I am sad that Jeff Bagwell isn't the second of The Killer B's to make it into the HOF. I think I'd be more upset about it if Craig Biggio hadn't made it into the Hall last year--he was the most deserving out of himself, Bagwell, and Lance Berkman to be completely honest.

And, given my post.... yes, I am a Houston Astros girl. Still hoping for a WS win one of these years. At least it seems like the Astros have a better shot at MAYBE winning The WS as opposed to the Texans making it to and winning the Super Bowl. :lol  The 'stros HAVE already been in the big dance (was that REALLY 11 years ago?!) but they very sadly got swept by the White Sox.

I'm not sure who we've kept, gained or lost but... I'm hoping! Gotta pull for my 'stros!
