Creating electronic drum beats
« on: January 02, 2016, 04:35:15 AM »
Hey guys,
So, I'd like to know if any of you got an idea of how to make electronic shattered beat like that one: https://youtu.be/65020NiNR8o?t=122

I know these are actual acoustic drums, but I primarily mean the kind of breakdowns that you can hear during this song (the parts that sound like the song's stuck).

Thank you very much :)

Those are probably sequenced, and modified with some filtering/EQ.

You should check out virtual instruments like BT's BreakTweaker or iZotope's Stutter plug-in. Those will help you create textures such as Haken's.  :D

I use Toontracks' EZDrummer.

It's actual acoustic drum sounds which you can map out in MIDI.

You can achieve that by cutting pieces from the waveform, here's an illustration:

You'll have to zoom in quite a bit and make all that happen in a short period of time but that's it.

Thanks! I will!  ;D

Yeah, I use it too, but I actually referred to the effects more than the samples themselves.

I think that's exactly what I was looking for. Thank you very much!  :metal

Also try copy-pasting one super small piece of the track over and over again to make a more "stuck" sound.
