Yeah.  It's more like a spirit.  Not my thing.

Same here. It's definitely not worth the ridiculous price, either.

Anyone have any great scotch recommendations? I discovered variations of this, along with Connemara while in Ireland recently, and I love them both.

Scroll back a couple of pages... there are a few of us that have offered up suggestions.  I tried a Laphroaig once, forget what year/cask, but I remember not being overly impressed.

I remember the liquor department manager at the grocery store I was working at a long time ago letting me have the decorative cardboard tube that that comes packaged in. I was then walking to my car to put it away for when I got off later that day. One of my cashier friends saw me with it as I walked by the registers and asked me what it was. I instantly quipped "My condom." She laughed while blushing and I lost my virginity to her a week or two later. Thanks for reminding me of all this, Aythes :)

This looks awesome!

It does, you really feel like a pirate, with the frosted glass (is that what it's called?), great taste too.

Celebrating some sort of christmas break tonight. At least I've seen my last classes today (I'm a high school music teacher), only things left to do are a couple of gigs.
Celebrating with a nice glass of Deanston special edition, cask strength. Aged 8 years on Oak barrels, and 4 more years on Bourbon barrels. 60,1%, straight out the cask. I did the tour at the distillery during my autumn break, I love to actually see where the whiskey comes from. Makes it all the more romantic.

Actually, black_floyd, you should go ahead and assume that everything you post is something I'm going to enjoy...and regularly laugh out loud at. There are a few regulars on this forum that I'll automatically read anything they post, and you are one of them. Your sense of humor really appeals to me.

Awesome and thanks a sincere bunch! Seemingly small gestures like this really make my day and it surprises me a fair bit too since I think my posting frequency dropped off a good bit in the time since you became a more regular fixture of this place.

This is what I just purchased at the liquor store. They didn't have Jim Beam. I was highly disappointed. Has anyone tried that apple flavored Jim Beam? I'm curious to try it. Mila Kunis can be extremely convincing.

Find a bar that has it and ask them if you can try a sample. Most places are pretty accommodating about that kind of thing,  if you only keep it to one or two.

That's a good idea. The bar where I've been going for the last 15 years or so would probably let me do that.

I did the same tonight at our local haunt with Great Lakes' Christmas Ale. I've done that there many times, actually, so yeah, give it a shot. If they're at all familiar with you, that'll obviously help as well.
