Intervals - Instrumental Progressive / Djent
« on: November 11, 2015, 10:42:00 PM »
Hey guys!

Who here has heard of Intervals? I've been in love with this band since I discovered A Voice Within on Spotify last year! Love the band's stuff.

Anyway Aaron (The driving force behind the band) and company are putting out a new record, The Shape of Colour, in less than a month. They're going back to their roots again dropping the vocals from their record and going instrumental. I'm not too sure how I feel about that because I did really enjoy the singer on the last album, but I am impressed with the first single from the new record, I'm Awake. You guys should check it out here!  ;D

IMO these guys are so much more interesting with vocals, so I was pretty disappointed when I realised they were taking a step backwards and going instrumentral again. I'll check it out for sure, but I'm not expecting it to be all that exciting.

I have to agree that they're more of an interesting band with vocals, but I really like Aaron's guitar playing and composing, so hopefully that can make up for the lack of vocalist. I did really enjoy I'm Awake so I'm cautiously optimistic.

Yea I heard it, pretty good stuff, though I doubt it will beat In Time, which is my favorite EP/album. I've always enjoyed their instrumentals more than the ones with the singer btw.
people on this board are actual music fans who developed taste in music and not casual listeners who are following current fashion trends and listening to only current commercial hits.

Gotcha. Personally I couldn't get into In Time that much in comparison to AVW. But its still really killer! I'm digging this one though.

Just picked up the new album and I really like it. I highly recommend this for any petrucci fan. Its got that kind of vibe, but with its own flavor.

BUMP - new record is out today, just listened through a couple times. It is very much a continuation of the styles of The Shape of Colour. Very similar vibe. The first track "Touch and Go" is absolutely fantastic and probably my favorite at the moment.

I tried to find a thread about Intervals but guess there are only 2, this one and one from 2011, sorry if there is a more recent one. Anyways, their new album, Circadian, is coming out November 13th  :metal
