Where has Mangini talked about the drum sound on dt12? I'm curious. 'Cause that mechanical triggered snare... It's not by mistake.

He also talked to me about it when i interviewed him about a year ago. He also said that he wasn't happy with ADTOE sound, and he said that he just went with the DT12 snare sound to follow the general vision of the album. The only thing that frightens me is having extensively triggered drums this time, i think the last tour had something of a mix between triggers and real sound, at least on the bass drums.

I would ask since when have the ideas of the album been around, both the concept and the music. Is this album the result of jams during the previous tour? Does the story of TA involve, in some germinal stage, Portnoy?

If you could ask the band one question at this stage about the new record, what would it be?

Did JP used his baritone this time?

Yeah I'd love to know that.

My question would be: are you sure you got enough good songs to fill 2 CDs? Hope so.

The just said the hell with it if the songs are half assed.  We want to put out a double album.

They wrote a normal album and quarter-assed it so it's a double album. :neverusethis:

Yes the origin of the ideas and how long they have been working on this concept/music would be very interresting to know.

Wouldn't it be something if we read the credits and one lyric credit said "Portnoy" on it . . .

If Portnoy was involved I can't imagine him not talking about it already in his social media accounts. Unless a gag order was involved, then I guess he wouldn't talk about it. But still.

Yeah you got a point there . . . I was mainly just adding to what someone else said about Portnoy being involved, all wild speculation  ;D

It's not even speculation.  There is no way he is involved.

True  :lol The other member was just speculating if the idea was bouncing around since when he was in the band (unless I misunderstood) and then my crazy brain took it one step further  :lol :rollin

Idk about the baritone, but im pretty sure he used the double neck 12 strings he used in Six Degrees. He had a post about that guitar a while ago but i dont think it made any appearance in their recent tour, so im guessing he used that in the recording.

Going back to the question about SFAM, it was nothing like this. I had no clue it was a concept album until it came out. I wasn't on the internet anywhere near as much back then so maybe it was more obvious to those who were. First thing I saw about the album was review in Classic Rock. They didn't mention that the album was a concept album and didn't mention Metropolis pt 2. Album was just referred to as Scenes From a Memory. That immediately made me think of Metropolis and when they mentioned another track called The Dance of Eternity, I got more excited. It was not until day of release that I discovered the full album was Metropolis pt 2. I phoned up HMV to check they had the new DT album and the guy looked on his computer and said "you mean Metropolis Pt 2. I left work as early as I possibly could that day!

What would that be if they played it all in 1/8, 1/16 & 1/32 notes?

Seeing some lighting setups and stuff, are they maybe in the process of recording a video?

If there was a proper video done for a song (as opposed to a lyric video), I wonder if the band would actually appear in it, or would they just have actors playing out that part of the storyline?

I was actually thinking about some sort of album teaser video, but that could be cool for a music video indeed!

I think this was just for photos, but I'd like to see some videos too. I don't know how soon the two videos will be revealed or whether this is part of that or not.
Only King could mis-spell a LETTER.
Yep. I think the only party in the MP/DT situation that hasn't moved on is DTF.
