2 - When Dream and Day Unite  :hat
3 - A Dramatic Turn of Events (this is one of those "so silly itīs good")

My fav DT cover is FII.

I have problems with SFAM and TOT in that they were based on existing work. That doesn't mean the covers aren't good, they're just... hmm, lazy?

I mean, this image *snip* hang in art museums already in the nineties..

It's the same reason I'm not particularly fond of the Hugh Syme artworks - they're kind of lazy and rushed, where fans time and time again find flaws that they have to fix before print... (remember octavarium "lines" being just single stroke photoshop lines that werent even drawn straight).
Didn't Jerry Uelsmann do the artwork for Train of Thought?

No, he didn't do the artwork -for- Train of Thought. Jerry Uelsmann created the artwork many years before, and they are displayed in many of his books, website, and art installations. Portnoy saw those pictures, and bought them for use on the album. Some of the pictures were cut (like the cover).

I actually don't care much for most DT covers.

If pressed, I honestly would have to say ADTOE is my favorite.  I like that it has a lighter mood than most others but still kind of surreal with a touch of darkness (the fact that the mime/clown guy's rope is about to snap.

ahhh, ok.  The rest of the story.  Makes sense because I kept seeing other images from ToT when looking at Jerry's work.

Your point about Hugh still stands.

For me, its:

8VM
SC  (too bad it's my least favorite album)
then maybe ADTOE

then I don't really care about the rest of them.

Octavarium
ToT
SFAM

I am not sure if it was on purpose but I also quite like the way that BC&SL flows into ADToE.
