Elite:  Theocracy - I Am

I would've assumed Theocracy would've been banned. Oh well. I'm not actually a fan of this song.

TAC:  Lords Of The Trident - Shattered Skies

Cheesey lyrics for sure, and the band pics are laughable. But this is a really good 2015 metal album that is extremely easy on the ears.

jjrock88:  Accept - Losing More Than You've Ever Had

Jason, this might literally be the worst song of the Udo era!

Chad from the same album:

TAC got a higher score than me in the electronic round? Honestly, can I just drop out now? :lol

That was close!

I'll send something tonight after I get home and can run through my music library properly. This gonna be hard

And it was more of a case of some really, REALLY good submissions, because your tune was excellent.  I don't think there was eve any question of it making it through.  Some song has to be at the bottom though.

Classic Accept is literally one of my favorite bands. They also put on one of the best performances by an opening band ever (1985's Powerslave tour). When you are ready, I'm here for you.

I guess I'm in the minority here who likes Voyager quite a bit. Though I definitely understand the criticism- those vocals are definitely hit or miss.

Hey, I like them too! Though I must admit that they're so much better live compared to their studio recordings.

I've not seen them live before (will soon, though) but I sure hope you're right.

Maybe it's because I'm a vegetarian and haven't had steak with my cupcakes before.

After hating Udo's voice forever I have started to appreciate it recently. Some great stuff in their discography.

And glad I got through. Was worried that Anubis Gate were a band you'd tried and dismissed.

Glad to see that you've finally come to terms with your liking for drunk, snarling gay German army blokes :lol

I'm going all or nothing this round.  While I have things that are more to Chad's tastes, I don't want to send mediocre power metal or prog *cough* Soul Secret *cough*  from a band I am luke warm on when I can send a band I'm more into that has a chance to move the needle.  I'm prepared for first place or last place equally, but I'll settle for good enough.

I'm totally cool with this approach, but the fact that you feel Soul Secret is mediocre (and where I'm "meh" on Jolly) demonstrates why were incompatible sometimes. Tastes: One of us is doing it wrong.  It might be me!   :rollin

Someone posed the question recently, "what's worse than getting a low score on a song you love?  Getting a low score on a song you don't love"

I don't know, there's something comforting about seeing the host dislike a song that you're similarly unimpressed with. Whereas if someone shits on your all time favorite band/artist you feel like they've shat on your personality. Or maybe that's just me, getting too attached.

That's what she said.

I guess my thought is if I was to send a song you don't like (but think the host will), and they crap all over it, I'd be kicking myself for trying too hard.  Whereas if I send a song I love, and they crap on it, well... they're just plain wrong anyway.  :lol

Curveball coming later tonight.  Nothing too shifty.  Those that have submitted can keep what they submitted, or chose something else.  You'll understand later.

It's nothing too intense really... just a heads up as some of you might be anticipating (hoping) to make it to the main competition - though 6 of you are going to be eliminated... that's a pretty high ratio - 40% of you are about to go buh-bye.

However... for the confident ones, the main competition will not have any firm rules or themes.  The only requirement will be that everyone must send at least one ballad.  I love me my ballads - be it a power ballad like I Remember You by Skid Row, or a simple acoustic or piano only track like Hardline's In This Moment.  Do whatever you want, whenever you want it.  Just don’t send me songs until a round starts.  No squatting on your territory (band) early like we did in TAC’s.

So, if you have such a song in mind, don't use that band just yet.  Since most are bitching/whining/moaning about how tough it is to find me a song (I tease), I thought I'd give the heads up now so that if by any chance you are using a band this round that has an awesome ballad, you may want to take that into consideration.  I offer this because of a time (with Nick) where I submitted a Triumph song in Round 1, and then a couple rounds later, his theme was "song by a 3 member band".  Boy, sure woulda been nice to have Triumph for that round!  So, I don't want anyone to think "wish I woulda had that I already used band for the ballad".

There will be a couple more guidelines when the main competition starts.

With the second qualifying round, do the ones that had a good pick in the first get a bit of leeway if their song isn't up to scratch this time, or are you treating this one totally separate?

Probably a bit of leeway.  For instance, if Elite sends a mediocre song, he'll be aided by the fact he killed it in Round 1.  If he totally shits the bed though, I got no problem putting a bullet in him.

If it comes to a close decision for the final in-or-out spot #10, then I'll definitely be taking into consideration both rounds.

I'd been planning on sending you a fantastic ballad in the main competition anyway if I made it through, so this curveball means nothing to me. :loser:

Though with 6 people getting the axe, my submission probably isn't going to get me through anyway.

Good job I didn't send last night as I was going the ballad route (showing my versatility )
