Nightwish Survivor - Album League - Round 6
« on: August 27, 2015, 11:08:11 AM »
Time for a penultimate round!

Rules:
  • Each round will consist of four match-ups between Nightwish albums.
  • The order in which the albums will face each other was determined by random.org. Every album will face each other once.
  • Every person has four votes to place in the poll: one for each match-up. Vote for the album you'd like to see win its respective match. Don't vote for both albums in the match-up. If you can't decide between two albums, better don't vote in this match-up at all.
  • The match-ups are separated by "Next Match Below" options — please don't vote for them.
  • The ties are allowed. No tiebreakers.
  • Each round will last 48 hours.
Round 5 Results:

Once defeats Angels Fall First 8-1
Dark Passion Play defeats Oceanborn 8-1
Imaginaerum defeats Wishmaster 8-1
Century Child defeats Endless Forms Most Beautiful 8-1

Standings:

#. Album | W - L (Votes difference)

1. Imaginaerum | 5 - 0 (+31)
2. Century Child | 5 - 0 (+28)
3. Once | 3 - 2 (+9)
4. Dark Passion Play | 3 - 2 (+3)
5. Endless Forms Most Beautiful | 2 - 3 (+3)
6. Oceanborn | 2 - 3 (-6)
7. Wishmaster | 0 - 5 (-24)
8. Angels Fall First | 0 - 5 (-44)

Imaginaerum is still in the lead, and Century Child still isn't far behind.

Oceanborn - Century Child
Once - Imaginaerum
Dark Passion Play - Endless Forms Most Beautiful

Vote for the album you'd like to win each match.

That might be true. For me, this is:

#8 vs. #7
#6 vs. #1
#4 vs. #2
#3 vs. #5

So with the exception of the second one, some close matches for me.

I don't see anything wrong with that. In fact those standings are almost exactly my album rankings.

Wishmaster is Oceanborn's slightly inferior follow-up and the last album of Nightwish's least good era.

Yeah, I realized that  :lol ..

But I think completely the opposite.. That's their golden era.. Now they're just good..

I mean of course tastes will be tastes, but for my money, Century Child was when they really grew beyond the confines of straightforward power metal and started making some really ambitious music. I like AFF, OB and WM, but I feel like they're a prelude to what came later, as Tuomas became a more ambitious composer, arranger and lyricist.

Yes, this is all true.. But since then they've lost (precisely) their power.. Anyway, after EFMB I'm hopeful that some of the old Nightwish returns..

I think the last five albums are just as powerful as the first three, just not in the same way.

Century Child onwards is the era of Nighwish I enjoy listening to. I'm not really a fan of the first three albums with the exception of some songs.

Hey, no problem. It would be too dull to run this kind of league if every result was predictable. It adds to excitement and all.

Screw you guys though. :lol
