Do you like noisy, heavily distorted guitars? Like the solo on Misunderstood, and the one after Limousine's climax.

if you mean like the last minute or so of limousine and the parts of misunderstood where it's just the guitar being scratchy near to the end then... well, not like a huge fan of that kind of thing on its own  :lol

Nice. I'll send one that's basically a buildup of roaring guitars. With female vocals.

oh btw unsurprisingly, that Brand New album is really good
I already love Sowing Season, Millstone, Jesus, Limousine (duh), Not The Sun, and Handcuffs and that's like over half the album and I haven't exactly been able to give it a large number of spins either

anyways i'll send out PM reminders tomorrow for anyone who hasn't sent me a song yet so get on that  :lol

someone make sure Elite sees the thread title when he wakes up

in other news, re: recent albums

The Devil and God is probably the best among the five I got, what an album
Riverside's might actually be my least favorite but that's more a result of the others just all being really good too rather than it being bad, I don't think I like it as much as ADHD but it's a big step up from SoNGS. the lyrics of #Addicted are awful but other than that there's no real serious gripes to be made

also: wow this round is full of really heavy stuff + i have at the very least heard of every artist sent to me this round.
elite can be the exception if he wants to be i dunno lol

The song lengths go on...

4:45 - 4:49 - 5:39 - 5:47 - 5:54 - 6:28 - 7:37 - 9:17 - 11:12 - 12:38

Welcome to the longest round of the roulette, length-wise  :lol

There’s a nice soft/loud contrast between the verses and the chorus that gives the chorus a lot more weight but doesn’t take the weight away from the verses either.

I think a problem I’m having is that this song stays at one dynamic level for a while then abruptly switches to a different level, but there’s no build or swell in any of it, so it ends up sounding really flat.

The heavy distortion throughout and the bass-heavy mix works well here because it doesn’t drown out everything else, everything still comes through clearly enough.

There’s a great build going throughout this where more and more layers are added and the vocals get more intense, but slow enough that you don’t notice it happening.

Really, this is more than competent enough, but for what it is, it doesn’t strike me as particularly unique, either.

For what it is I can’t say it seems all that original but I think on a level of pure power it’s pretty good, both vocalists and the heavier riffs are all strong.

The riffs of this have a nice heavy but textured sound to them that I just really like, the sort of “epic” sound that a lot of metal bands wish they could have.

This is heavy on atmosphere in the best way. There’s some kind of intrusive sounds that come in but I don’t think they’re “out of place” necessarily.

The really heavy bits at the end feel like the natural end result of the long build and the heaviness going on both in front and back just makes this massive and overwhelming.

This is striking me as another of those songs in the category of “nothing is particular unique, but everything it does, it does damn well”.

This is a damn solid round, and also a damn long one, 15 minutes longer than the next longest  :lol
When the worst I can say about any of these songs on first listen is "solid for what it is but I don't feel it too strong" (which is like, a 6.5-7 score final listen comment) and I can see the potential for quite a number of really high scores here... yeah, digging it.

Damn, any of these could apply to my tune, specially since I didn't send metal yet I could totally get what you mean there.

Many of those could be mine, yes :D I see you are generally pleased with this round but I'm not so much with my submission. I think, it's great song and everything but there are so much dark songs in my library I could always find the one I like more :P
Also, since I love dark music, I can't waith to hear what others sent.

Round 9: Deep Peace
The theme this time is relaxing songs. Honestly, this is really vague for me in particular because there's a lot of things you wouldn't think are relaxing that I do find relaxing, and some "relaxing" music I just find boring...  :lol

I won't necessarily say "loud songs are a no-go" because that's not true, there's some loud stuff like Deafheaven and Isis that's perfectly fine as far as being relaxing, and I won't say "fast tempos are no-go" either. It's... subjective in the worst ways, I guess, I dunno, send me something you find relaxing and I'll probably find it relaxing too.

And as far as Round 8 goes: Either tomorrow night or sometime Tuesday, depends on if I feel like listening twice tomorrow. Just through the 3rd listen now and I can say with relative certainty that this will be the highest average-score round of the entire roulette thus far, so. Lowest score right now is 6.5 and most of the songs are 8 or higher.

I didn't sent first thing that came to my mind because I think it would be same band Sacul sent :P So I had to search through my library to find something and I'm glad I did - I almost forgot about that artist. I would say I'm risking with this one because Parama doesn't have anything similar on banned list but I think he'll like it :D
