I have no clue why that song does absolutely nothing for me, it feels like it should  :(

Mmm I should have sent a more complex song of Thumpermonkey, Wheezyboy is composed only by 2 different parts and it's not ideal to showcase everything a band could offer. You've liked every song who crosses between genres since the first round, I should go for weird bands until the end of the game :D

Really curious about the first impressions of round 4, I don't know what to expect from my song..

honestly i am hoping for some really cool stuff from round 4

anyways listening to Bilo 3.0 now
aaahhh one of the melodies in Where Is Now? is a reprise of a part of the opener on Bilo 3.0

sweeeeet

i still really dislike the vocals on smile though :<
the harsh ones where it sounds like she had her throat torn out or something oww that sounds painful
song's cool otherwise though but aaaahh

nostalgia is a cool instrumental track that I like a lot
as is wrinkle maze, though it's a slow build. but cool.

daydreamers is a nice closer. this album is very bright compared to the average metal album and I quite like that

How, if anything at all, do you feel about Trip-Hop?

i don't specifically know what it is but it sounds like something i'd hate  :lol
the only electronic music I tend to like much at all is stuff that's really atmospheric.

I kind of feel bad because I kind of pushed you a little to send me this, but at the same time I didn’t really know what to expect other than “prog metal”.

:lol Don't feel bad about it, as I said, I probably would have sent it at some point anyway. And given how harsh you've been, 7.5 isn't bad at all! :lol

(Brand New, Coldplay, Foals were all great) so I'm expecting good things.

Yay!

I'm about to send some non-prog right now.
And if spirit's a sign,

i will say this, Voices From the Fuselage seems similar to TesseracT and Skyharbor in the way that the album is probably far more than the sum of its parts, because both Altered State and Guiding Lights have no songs I'd ever send in a roulette but both are damn fine albums in their own right

First things first, have some song times.

2:35 - 3:46 - 3:55 - 4:20 - 4:21 - 5:05 - 5:05 - 6:30 - 7:10 - 7:19

Here's one other fun fact! Two people sent the same artist. But who?  ;D

And this first section might drag a tiny bit, I feel. Actually, that just seems to be the theme of this song in general. It… drags.

It’s a pretty decent rocker front-to-back, but I worry that it won’t lack enough depth on relistens.

This has a bit more of a pulse and more flavor than other stuff in the genre, though, and I can see it winning me over.

The music is vaguely pleasant but seems to just serve as a backing track for the vocals and… nothing more. It’s a bit light on substance, mostly.

This is a song that’s just plain fun to listen to. Upbeat and with some good rhythm and some good bass.

The singer is the only one really adding any sense of dynamic here, but he does a good job of it and I definitely find his voice fits the music well.

I can definitely see why you sent this particular song though, the music on this one is a lot more subdued and atmospheric, but definitely in a good way, I can get into this a lot easier.

Honestly it gives me chills, which is always a good sign. It’s very emotionally gripping just by how haunting it is.

I think the singer was a bit more convincing on the other song from this artist, but I like the music here a lot more, and that’s what’s most important in the end.

She’s got a pretty powerful and unique voice, and the music itself does a lot of cool things to go along with it.

Absolutely no idea which one's mine. I know it's not the rocker, not the one with good bass and not the male vocalist. But I have no idea which of the others is mine, so this could be good or bad. But most likely right down the middle, as things have gone so far for me here :lol

man i'm so mad i don't have infinite money/have to pace myself on albums :lol

just looking over what i plan to get and there's no less than 10 albums at the top of my "gotta get this ASAP" list

i can't believe my roulette started at the worst possible time, right in the middle of a "wow look at all this new music i just found" phase

because now i have two of those going on simultaneously  :lol

i'm actually considering taking a week off from this after the fifth round so i don't get burned out because my pace thus far has been, i'd say, pretty quick  :P

Pretty sure this is mine, if not, I should have my brain checked for short-term memory loss, I never seem to remember which song I sent.

EDIT: Parama sent me back my actual submission, and I'm starting to think it's the "decent rocker with lack of depth on relistens"   :tdwn

listening to the Foals album, it seems Spanish Sahara is not particularly indicative of the band's sound as a whole, which is a bit of a shame. the rest is a bit more upbeat and nice enough but doesn't hit me in the same way

Round 5: The Running Free
This is... an open round! The last one, actually. I will let you know that much. The next 5 rounds are all themes of some kind. Sent whatever you want, because it might be the last time it'll fit the theme (but probably not). Didn't do this earlier woops. Don't take the wagers.

second listen through, i did prelim scores but they are not scored very well (not to say the scores are bad, just that i don't have as strong of an opinion on most of them yet)

tho the range of scores is pretty wide right now  :lol
7 out of 10 entries got the bonus +.5 though, so

so i looked it up and not only are there two songs from one artist, but they are back-to-back songs off the same album. amazing.

they also played back-to-back in this listen through. in reverse order. it's a sign. i should give both of them 0 points.

after third listen, I can firmly say:
scores are literally all over the place this time, haha, though they're mostly pretty solid scores

i'm doing fine, thank you

and i may do writeups after the fourth listen instead of the fifth, for these, my opinions are pretty settled now and with this kind of stuff i'm not sure doing another listen before doing writeups will be beneficial in any way
