The TREMORS Series.
« on: July 28, 2015, 03:41:07 PM »
Tremors is one of the greatest monster movies ever.

The series gradually got worse with each iteration but the second film was still decent.

Now comes  TREMORS 5

It looks a bit better than the fourth movie at least. Hope the CGI isn't SYFY bad.

Tremors is one of my favorite movies. Aftershocks is pretty good, but after that, the series became shit. Part 3 had its moments, but overall it just wasn't very good. The shitty CGI didn't help. The TV show only has one redeeming quality and that's the wet t-shirt scene. Never watched the prequel movie. This new one looks like they actually put some effort into it, but ripping off Jurassic Park and Die Hard? You might say homage, but I think they're desperate. I'm sure it'll be on Netflix.

I love the first one, and really enjoyed the 2nd one. After that, no thanks

The first one was a fun B-movie, but "one of the greatest monster movies ever" seems a little much.
Hef is right on all things. Except for when I disagree with him. In which case he's probably still right.

The first one was fun and I still consider it a cult classic, and I've got no idea they were on 5 but that seems pretty typical. This was one of the first movies that, as a kid, I was both terrified of it and genuinely laughed throughout. Like Hef said, fun B-movie pseudo-horror-comedy but that's about it. That trailer is funny in a bad way though. Maybe I should check out the second movie on a boring day.

Agreed about the first one and the cheesey horror movie feel, only got cheesier with the next itereations, but on some level I enjoyed them all (I think I saw the first 3 only, don't recall ever seeing the 4th).  I can't say I am interested in a new one, but when it makes its way onto TV maybe I will check it out.

It's the 25th anniversary of the original this year.

The sequels are way better than the Jaws sequels. Even 4 was watchable and had some good moments.

That's another series that I've watched the same amount and have the exact same opinion of...well, I actually hold Jaws in a lot higher regard but that's not saying much.  :lol

As far as coming close to the original - Tremors 2 does the best. Jaws 2 is not bad but it's not the first movie.

I haven't seen any of the Tremors sequels, but this is probably true.

Tremors 2 is very nearly as good as the first one.

The 3rd and 4th rely on CGI monsters but are still fun.

Neither 3 nor 4 are outright howlers like Jaws 3 and 4.
