Mylo Xyloto is my favorite Coldplay album and in my top five of all the albums in my collection, period. It's an absolutely stunning achievement that deserves none of the hate it gets.

Ok, i give up.

I gave up long ago on MX getting the respect it deserves.  :'(

That's the equivalent of an album like St. Anger getting any respect (not that Mylo Xyloto is bad as St. Anger or anything but both are the lowest rated album from their respective bands).

Transatlantic - SMPTe (although it's still stellar)

The Flower Kings - The Rainmaker (Still haven't listened through Sum of No Evil and Adam & Eve)

Favourite bands aye?

Here we go:

Leprous - Coal
Haken - The Mountain
Pain of Salvation - Scarsick
Dream Theater - Black Clouds & Silver Linings
Devin Townsend (Project/Band) - Synchestra (yes, in this shootout Devlab and The Hummer don't exist)
dredg - Cuckles & Mr. Squeezy
Karnivool - Themata
Opeth - Heritage
Porcupine Tree - On the Sunday of Life
Steven Wilson - The Raven Who Refused to Sing (this was terribly hard to do)
Agent Fresco - A Long Time Listening (lol, they only have one album out so far.)
Hey dude slow the fuck down so we can finish together at the same time.

Alice In Chains - Alice In Chains
No! This is my favorite AIC album.  :'(

I'll name the albums by my ten favorite bands:

Iron Maiden - Fear of the dark
The Beatles - With The Beatles
Dream Theater - Falling into infinity
Led Zeppelin - Led Zeppelin I
Rush - Rush
Pink Floyd - More
Radiohead - Pablo Honey
of Montreal - Coquelicot asleep in the poppies - a variety of whimsical verse
Thin Lizzy - Night life
Helloween - Chameleon

Interesting point: most of these aren't bad at all.

The one that sprang immediately to mind is Drastic Measures by Kansas.

Blob is correct in putting Crazy Nights and Unmasked below HitS...

...and TAC is correct about Trail by Fire.  Freaking BRILLIANT Journey album, and a worthy follow up to Frontiers.

I'd rather punch myself in the groin then listen to Hits in full.

Devin Townsend - A lot of people have been saying Physicist which is fair, but are we forgetting the existence of Devlab and The Hummer?

I get the impression that most don't give much thought to those, which is why they are usually ignored.

Porcupine Tree - Anything before Stupid Dream?

Signify, The Sky Moves Sideways and Up the Downstair are all amazing.

See, and that I just don't get. How can MX be the lowest rated when it is the best?  ;)

But seriously, would you agree that Systematic Chaos is a better comparison than St. Anger, in that MX is not universally regarded as one of the worst albums ever released, but instead a disappointing album from the particular band? I can be the Coldplay equivalent of those people who rank SC first. Except that MX is miles better than SC (and SDOIT :P)

Dream Theater - Black Clouds and Silver Linings
Death - Individual Thought Patterns
Opeth - Heritage
Between the Buried and Me - The Silent Circus
Symphony X - Symphony X (if this does not count, then The Odyssey)
Megadeth - The System Has Failed
Slayer - anything released after Divine Intervention, they're all pretty bad

Those are the first to come to mind.
Only a prog fan would try to measure how much they enjoy a song by an equation. :lol

What's with the dislike for Fortress guys?

I do think Scurrilous is worse, it's just that like half of Fortress feels like filler. Bloodmeat - Sequoia Throne is great and Goddess Bound/Gagged are good, but the rest feels really meh to me.

Porcupine Tree - Anything before Stupid Dream?

Signify, The Sky Moves Sideways and Up the Downstair are all amazing.

In fact, all those three would be in my top 5 PT albums.

I've tried and tried but I just can't get into them. At least OTSOL has Radioactive Toy which remains one of their best songs to date.

...my name is Araragi.

Least favorite albums from my favorite bands?

Dream Theater:  When Dream and Day Unite (Hate Dominici's vocals).
Iron Maiden:  The Final Frontier (Dull as dishwater; would be Virtual XI due mainly to The Angel and
The Gambler, but The Clansman saves it).
U2:  October (Seems like Boy leftovers; Songs of Innocence isn't far behind, but at least the price was
       right).
Nightwish:  Angels Fall First (Even a young Tarja can't make up for Tuomas's atrocious vocals, and
they hadn't yet developed their power metal style).
The Tea Party:  Splendor Solis (Not so bad but just not nearly as good as their next three albums).
Within Temptation:  (tie) Enter and The Dance (I guess I just don't like gothic metal; Sharon sounded
like a banshee on these two; Mother Earth had as big a leap in quality as DT did
                              from WDADU to IAW).
KISS:  Hot in the Shade (The songwriting is seriously lacking, even for them; disclaimer:  I haven't
heard Dynasty, Unmasked, Animalize, or Asylum in their entirety, only the singles).
Queensryche:  (tie) Every album from Tate/Wilton/Jackson/Rockenfeld after Hear in the Now Frontier;
disclaimer:  I haven't heard either the self-titled or Frequency Unknown.
Megadeth:  The World Needs A Hero (Just a nothing album; disclaimer:  I gave up on them after
United Abominations, so I can't say if Supercollider (sp?) is as bad as people say it is).
Metallica:  St. Anger (no explanation needed; Lulu may be worse, but it's a collaboration album).

More or less. I certainly don't think both Coldplay or Dream Theater have anything nearly as bad as St. Anger.

Dream Theater - When Dream and Day Unite (with DT12 closely behind it)
Opeth - Orchid (though it's still really good)
Porcupine Tree - On the Sunday of Life
Devin Townsend - Devlab
Steven Wilson - Insurgentes (though it's still a fantastic album)
Leprous - Tall Poppy Syndrome (great album, but I very much dislike the title track)
Mastodon - Remission (though it's still pretty good)

Going by the same band picks from the other thread:

Oceansize - Self Preserved While the Bodies Float Up (but I still love it)
Cardiacs - Guns (still a darn great album)
Swans - The Burning World (either this one or Greed)
Boris - Asia
Godspeed You! Black Emperor - Asunder, Sweet and Other Distress
Converge - Halo in a Haystack
The Cure - Wild Mood Swings
Sigur Rós - Von
The Mars Volta - Noctourniquet
Kayo Dot - Gamma Knife
Sun Kil Moon - Among the Leaves
Red House Painters - Old Ramon
Neurosis - Pain of Mind
Isis - In the Absence of Truth
Amplifier - Insider (I still really dig it though)
Between the Buried and Me - Between the Buried and Me
Boards of Canada - Music Has the Rights to Children (maaaybe? I honestly consider all 4 albums on par, it really changes every month or so)
Mew - Half the World is Watching Me
Nine Inch Nails - The Slip
Steven Wilson - Hand Cannot Erase

Therapy? - One Cure Fits All.

Their worst album by a long long way and the band have recently begun admitting to it as well.

The songs are lazy and half-baked. The production is awful and tries to be a dirty rock album and a polished pop album at the same time. The drums are buried and at times barely audible and the overall playing on the album is really poor.

What's worse is that it is smack bang in the middle of a great run of albums which got better each time.

High Anxiety is better than Shameless then never Apologise, Never Explain was better than High Anxiety..then One Cure ended that run and then their next album, Crooked Timber

( which they deliberately spent 3 years working on after they rushed out One Cure Fits All ) - was one of their best albums.

Honestly it's one of the best and most unique songs of the no makeup era.
would have thought the same thing but seeing the OP was TAC i immediately thought Maiden or DT related

Megadeth:  The World Needs A Hero (Just a nothing album; disclaimer:  I gave up on them after
United Abominations, so I can't say if Supercollider (sp?) is as bad as people say it is).
UA is awesome, and you missed out on the very excellent Endgame.

KISS:  Hot in the Shade (The songwriting is seriously lacking, even for them; disclaimer:  I haven't

Dynasty, Animalize, and Asylum have so many great songs on them. You are truly missing out.

Iron Maiden:  The Final Frontier (Dull as dishwater;
I would say sir that you were not properly prepared to receive this. Try agin!

Aside from DT who are my clear #1 band, I'm not sure who my 'favourites' are. So the rest of the list is a mix between bands I've been listening to a lot of over the last year, as well as bands who, I maybe don't listen to as much now - but who are still high on my most listened artists section of last.fm. No real order to it after DT.

Dream Theater - When Dream and Day Unite
Anathema - Serenades
Opeth - Heritage
Muse - The Resistance
Haken - Aquarius
Deftones - Adrenaline
Metallica - St Anger
Radiohead - Kid A or The King of Limbs
Tesseract - One
Maybeshewill - Fair Youth
65daysofstatic - We Were Exploding Anyway
Tool - Undertow
Symphony X - Symphony X
Rage Against the Machine - Renegades

The albums there range from still excellent - like Aquarius by Haken, to underwhelming/disappointing, to downright awful like Muse, Metallica and Radiohead's efforts. Also a couple of things to note - Tesseract only have 2 albums thus far and Renegades is a cover album.

Calling All Stations -  You know that From Genesis to Revelation still counts as a Genesis album in spite of its being left out of the boxed sets, don't you?

I think I've listened to those two albums maybe two or three times each; neither were good.  I gave the debut a slight pass because it was the debut, and Calling All Stations got docked a point for them trying to continue on without Phil Collins.

But Kid A and Amnesiac gang-rape The Bends so many times it's not even funny. Saying The Bends is better than Kid A and Amnesiac is like saying Putin is a better than Jesus.
