The special edition is a bit too heavy for my wallet. But looks good.

Good God at the special edition price!
Hef is right on all things. Except for when I disagree with him. In which case he's probably still right.

Yeah, very bummed about the price. I mean, I'm a big Opeth fan but I don't think even Rush sells signed stuff at these prices. I think the Clockwork signed books were selling at 175 USD.

For that price I hope it includes Mikael coming home to me and reading it for me personally.

Or hide under the bed and growl all night.

The normal edition is definitely affordable, but there's no way in hell I'd pay 6 times that amount of money for an autograph and a bunch of art prints. :P

I think the Royal Albert Hall DVD was the last major decision of theirs that I've even remotely been on board for.

Will this be an actual book or mostly uninteresting photographs/art pieces?

Those prices are ridiculous. A paperback edition would be more than sufficient for me, like the last edition of Lifting Shadows.

It'll happen eventually. First edition is always hardcover and stupid expensive.

Anyone remember how long it took for Lifting Shadows to come out in paperback?

For as deeply in love as I am with some of the bands I listen to, I've still never felt the incentive of getting any of the numerous bio books there are out there. They look cool and all but the prices are always insane and it's something I'd love for about a week before realizing I'll almost never look at it again after that week or so. Still very cool for the collectors though, and I'm sure the artwork is toats fab.

That's so true. Once (!) bought the U2 biography, a lavish release, fantastic pics and layout, quality paper. Thumbed through it, read maybe two chapters then it dissapeared into a closet somewhere.....
