He is the working man you pull for.  He gives a damn.  So refreshing to see.

Don't think this needed it's own thread as there is a Foo Fighters thread already, but very cool, he certainly cares about his fans.
Everyone else, except Wolfking is wrong.

I think something this badass definitely deserves its own thread. :metal

I haven't paid much attention to the Foo Fighters lately, and still haven't heard a second from their newest album, but Grohl is definitely one of the most likable musicians on the scene currently.  He gets it.  :tup :tup

Yeah, I agree. Something this cool needed its own thread.

Love the game of thrones reference too.

Dave Grohl comes across as a very down to earth guy. He seems like he would be a cool guy to make music with.
Perhaps you should ask bosk to reverse the "e" and "a" in the second half of your user name.

:metal The Foos latest album isn't much cop  :police: but Grohl is a dude.

Imagine if this was Axl Rose. He'd probably not only cancel all dates for at least two years but demand that all fans pay for his treatment :lol

I wonder what Kurt would think of him. Anyways, Dave is kind of my favorite famous person, and one good songwriter. It doesn't sound like it, but FF songs are strangely difficult to pull off.

There's a pizza parlor a few towns away from me that's been getting a lot of flak from its neighbors for them hosting live music (with pernits and what not..) All small local bands. At the height of the controversy,  Dave showed up and played a set (billed as Chevy Metal, not Foo Fighters...)

Random free show. I would have killed to have been there.

I guess he spent the entire time afterwards just chilling with fans and eating pizza. Dave is freaking awesome.
I just don't understand what they were trying to achieve with any part of the song, either individually or as a whole. You know what? It's the Platypus of Dream Theater songs. That bill doesn't go with that tail, or that strange little furry body, or those webbed feet, and oh god why does it have venomous spurs!? And then you find out it lays eggs too. The difference is that the Platypus is somehow functional despite being a crazy mishmash or leftover animal pieces

Wot?

A broken leg takes months to heal. Building a Game of Thrones throne for the show is the absolute right thing to do.

That throne really doesn't look all that complicated. A good metal worker could build that in a day with ease.

Dave fell off the stage and broke his leg during a show.  While they were treating him backstage, Taylor led the band in a short set of covers, then Dave came back out.  He said his leg might be broken, but he can still play guitar and scream, and they finished the show.  Unfortunately, Foo Fighters did end up cancelling the next several weeks' worth of shows so he can recover properly.

I hadn't heard about or seen that throne, though.  Since this was apparently that same night, they must have put it together on the spot.

Yeah, probably.  This chair, however, if it was intended the way Dave drew it when he was at the hospital after the Sweden show, could take forever to make though what they came up with during the DC show is not that far off.

More thoughts from him, regarding this whole thing.

Quote
We had a great show, but then I had to go get an X-ray, and I got jacked up. I went to the hospital and had a bit of surgery… I thought ‘Oh shit, we have to cancel shows. I don’t like cancelling shows’… So I took a couple oxycodones and drew a picture… I was high as a fucking kite. I said ‘I ain’t missing this show for the world, you build me this throne’.”

So they didn't cancel shows after all, and instead he sits on this throne?  It's not really clear from that article.

They cancelled a few UK shows (including a headlining slot at Glastonbury and two shows in Wembley Stadium) and others for Dave to heal up and the Washington DC show is the 1st show back which introduced the throne.

Damn, he really is hard core!  Originally they'd said he'd be out several weeks, but obviously they weren't counting on this guy's work ethic (and flair for furniture design).

 :lol So fucking bad-ass!
That sure is, man.

It's really quite legendary happening right before our eyes. Him finishing the show that he actually broke his leg at was incredible.

I do like that song a lot, but I wish I liked their music more.

Dave is great in speaking with passion about music  in various docs. Seems like a guy that gets it.
would have thought the same thing but seeing the OP was TAC i immediately thought Maiden or DT related
Winger Theater Forums........or WTF.  ;D
TAC got a higher score than me in the electronic round? Honestly, can I just drop out now? :lol
