List 1 has a lot of movies that I have seen or want to see so I would have to go with that one.
Do you read Sutter Cane?

I've only seen one movie from either list, and I'm not really interested in the rest, but I think I'd much prefer to have to watch list 1.

Yep. I think the only party in the MP/DT situation that hasn't moved on is DTF.

I can't really pick a favorite movie of all time, but when someone asks me, I'll usually default to Inception or V For Vendetta, which are both on List 2.  So I have to go with that one.
Sincerely,
Jaffa

I like some movie from those lists but is there a "neither" option? I don't seen anything that I'd consider required viewing.

Both lists have movies that are pretty good and movies I would never want to watch.

I went with list 1.

Quigley Down Under?  Really?

Quigley Down Under?  Really?

Never heard of it, but no movie with "down under" in the title can possibly be any good.

The only comment I have is that both of you seem to think that moving pictures originated during the past 20 years.

These are movies we haven't seen. We've both seen 90 percent of the movies we rattled off to each other.

If memory serves (I never watched it, but I remember it being released and marketed), it is a Western set in Australia starring Tom Selleck.

It's good, not anything mindblowing but it does have Alan Richman as the bad guy.  He of course is always awesome.

List 1 purely for the fact that its short and sweet and kicks ass.

List two is like,  I dunno. Australia, really?  God, what an abortion that was.  And Gandhi - jesus christ do you have a spare 5 years to sit through it all?

Yeah... kinda like a reverse Crocodile Dundee.   :lol

I went with list 1.

This.  There are more 'required' movies there (imo) than on list 2.  But really... new Rambo over the original?  That's like saying new Rocky over the original.

C'mon man!!!!
That's a word salad - and take it from me, I know word salad

These were lists of recommended movies the other hadn't seen, so I wouldn't read too much into any glaring omissions.

They both have a lot of good ones, but the first list has more that I prefer. Is your coworker a man or a woman?

List 1 is way closer to my taste, it has some of my all-time favorites. Haven't seen much of List 2, and those that I have, I generally disliked.

The Professional - Funny, loveable, entertaining, top-notch action and characters, one of my all time favorites
Hot Fuzz - The king of meta-humor, can't get enough of it...
Shaun of the Dead - ...that's why this one is a must-watch as well
Lucky Number Slevin - saw it a couple of years ago, can't remember a thing about it
Rocky Balboa - ok
Rambo (newest) - ok
Dogma - This is the point where I realized Kevin Smith wasn't as good as I perceived him to be
Se7en - overrated, but a thrilling ride
A Clockwork Orange - a unique classic, rightfully so
Downfall - The absolute best WWII related movie, a masterpiece of a drama and the only movie about Hitler that is worthy of being seen
12 Monkeys - same as Lucky Number Slevin
Point Break - Charming, over the top and entertaining, typical '90s action flick
Ghost - A bit on the cheesy side, but great and touching atmosphere
Enemy at the Gates - WWII movies are usually a miss for me, this one is one of the worst offenders I ever saw, with cheesy, cliched scenes, horrible Russian accent and so on
The Hunt for Red October, Frequency - haven't seen these

List 2:
Slumdog Millionaire - the concept and first act are really interesting, then it turns into a snoozefest
The Perks of Being a Wallflower - annoying, pretentious snoozefest
Inception - overrated, dragging, hard to watch
Shutter Island - a solid picture, but one of Scorsese's weaker efforts
Spirited Away - I was told this movie is the gateway into the wonderful world of anime. Well, it alienated me from the genre even more. Boring and weird.
Fury - The third act is a pathetic joke, undermines the few good scenes (tank dogfight, 'rape' scene) it had

Sycsa is perhaps the most brilliant and insightful man I have ever encountered.

Well of course not. We've both seen the original Rambo, though. That's why it's not on either list.

Yeah, I'm willing to bet the second one is hers. Feels more like a woman's list. And I would know, as I grope women's lists a lot.
