Nah, they don't think your nuts. They just want you to jump through hoops to get the necessary care.  Its complete bullshit, but thats how insurance companys work. Its a power trip. Pay for your coverage, then fight your ass off when you need to use it. I fought for a year to get a shoulder surgery. I put up with pain 24/7 untill they finally gave in.
Have fun with the psych test. Show them the true meaning of nuts ! :tup

Definitely do your research.  Find out exactly what they're wanting to ascertain.  I always assume insurance companies are trying to weasel out of their obligations.  Make absolutely sure you don't inadvertently provide them with one by coming across too sane or squirrelly, whichever they're looking for.

wkiml... I second the melatonin suggestion for sleep problems.  Perfectly natural and not really a drug.  Just promotes good, restful sleep.  My wife is a nurse and always scrutinizes everything and we both take it before bed each night.  Never slept better.

To the gentlemen suggesting the melatonin is this an over the counter med or do I need a prescription....went to my IOP meeting last night...I thought i had problems, shit my day is a walk in the park for the majority that was there

Also I suffer from moderate sleep apnea which is why my doctor will not prescribe a sleep aid

It's a supplement.  It doesn't do anything to make you tired.  It merely chills out the squirrels in your head.  Melatonin
However, if your Doc has a reason for keeping you off downers, you should certainly check with him first.

Right now I have zero cravings after the detox...but I have to be careful of what they call stress breakers something that may happen out of the blue that makes me go back, this is part of the IOP program how to recognize them and how to avoid the bottle when it happens ...besides I've been filling my free time in the  evenings which I used to spend drinking either walking the boardwalk ( I live 5 blocks from the beach) or just going down to the lake and doing some fishing

I read up on the Melatonin its seems to bring upon sleepiness ...I'll check with the doctor, he didn't want to prescribe anything that may put me out were as the apnea will not wake me back up

Definitely check with your Dr but I can't believe he wouldn't let you take it unless you're already on another sleep aid.  Its totally natural supplement and comes in different sizes... I take 3 mg orally and my wife takes 2 mg sub-lingual (dissolves under the tongue).  The sub-lingual seems to help her fall asleep quickly (15-20 min) where as the pill I swallow is more slow release and lasts more effectively through the night.  Don't know how it interacts with sleep apnea... most definitely check with the doc.

I have no problem falling asleep its staying asleep that is killing me....before with the apnea and drinking I was probably waking up as often but just didn't realise it because i was so drunk I would roll over and fall back to sleep, now that i'm not frinking i'm waking every 10-15 minutes through the night, if i get lucky i might get one or two 40 minutes stretchs during the night.

That definitely sucks.  I've had nights like that and you feel like you're not really sleeping at all because you wake too frequently.  It's miserable.  Did you check with your Dr about the melatonin?

@Tick...  I take glucosamine/chondroitin tabs during periods when my arthritis in my knees is bugging me.  I'm grateful that my arthritis is nowhere near as bad for me as it was for my Mom at this age.  She was on gold shots for years...

I take gluco sulfate.

Also, in my old age, I don't care about getting a record on it's release date which is why I am content to wait a few days to have Amazon ship BC&SL to me....

that is an awesome plus...and congrats!!!

it was interesting because yesterday I was at the beach and saw a guy who I was at the rehab with (20 plus years ago) who was the first one I relapsed with back then...he practically looked homeless.  nice reminder why I got back on the wagon (or off the wagon )

I've taken 3 sleep studies and have moderate ( just below extreme sleep apnea) but I am C-pap intolarant  cant take the constant air blowing in my face, I've been to a couple of throat specialists also to talk about surguries but the bottom line they all said is lose weight and the sleep apnea should lessen

As i mentioned earlier I have lost 28 lbs and have started an exercise program ( light ) as i have problems with my knees from carrying so much weight for so long  I walk about a mile and a half each night and have started a diet program so the weight should continue to come off just not as quickly

There is another machine that actually regulates itself as you breathe during the night delivering just the right pressure needed depending on what stage of sleep you are in, but my insurance will not cover it due to the expense $1200-$1500

You're just over a month into this, and it sounds like you're making very good headway.  Since you're obviously committed to getting better, I suspect that after six months you'll be a helluva lot healthier.  That probably will alleviate most of your problems.

One thing I've noticed with taking melatonin is that I'll still wake up in the middle of the night, but I can usually fall right back asleep.  Before, I'd often spend 45 minutes trying to get back to sleep.  That really sucks.

Don't know if this has come up yet, but I found that taking an interest in cooking was one of the most important steps in my getting healthier.  We Americans mostly eat shit.  Eating decent, home cooked food is crucial.  No unhealthy chemicals.  Much less cholesterol.  A fraction of the sodium.  Plus, it's an hour in the evening doing something productive.

I love to cook and usually spend a big portion of my weekend doing just that...than storing it in the frig for the week so when I come home i just have to heat it up

Actually, just reading the exchange with wki and bart. The whole eating healthier thing is for real. My wife is currently reading Jillian Michael's Master Your Metabolism. Lots of good info, especially for a diebetic..like me!
would have thought the same thing but seeing the OP was TAC i immediately thought Maiden or DT related
Winger Theater Forums........or WTF.  ;D
TAC got a higher score than me in the electronic round? Honestly, can I just drop out now? :lol
