SSRIs are antidepressants - prescriptions like Lexapro, Prozac, Paxil, Zoloft, etc.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Selective_serotonin_reuptake_inhibitor

Questionable though - many years ago, my doc prescribed Paxil for me.  It made me completely physically incapable of "finishing", despite proper stimulation.  So if they suggest any kind of medication, may want to ask about any potential side effects, in hopes that they won't exacerbate the issue you're being seen for in the first place.

Every doctor I've ever been to has wanted to prescribe one to me; even an ENT.  I recognize completely that stress or depression is the root of a great many problems, but random tinkering with brain chemistry is a pretty hap-hazard solution.  Ole Doc Millah might have a better insight, but it sure seems like a shitty approach to practicing medicine, IMO.

On a side note, how's your blood pressure?  The leading cause of a shitload of problems, including yours.

Withinthe norms...but I've always been on the low side of things. I have a very low/slow heart rate and blood preassure. (it's helped at a couple polygraphs!!!)

I get aroused, things begin...all is well....then...say 10 15 minutes in..if we pause or change positions....all of sudden.....wood gone. If we keep playing, fooling around...arousal returns later.

wtf?

Take care everyone - Bet you all didn't even notice I was gone.

Happy Lives to you all.

Hate to break it to ya, but that actually sounds more like the difference between 35 and 25.  I know my days of 3 hour wood ended years ago.

I stay away from doctors whenever possible.  It seems these days they are more interested in finding imaginary problems than fixing the ones you really do have just so they can push drugs for their Pharmaceutical sponsers.  Sad, sad, sad.   :sadpanda:

This is pretty close, but my take is that rather than looking for imaginary problems, they just treat any vague problem with whatever anti-depressant is sold by the hottest sales chick.

Our son was diagnosed years ago with ADHD, BiPolar Disorder, and a few things I'd never even heard of, and his shrink did the whole "family consultation" thing.  She met with him, met with my wife and I separately, and then all together.  At some point, she suggested I try taking something that would help me feel less stressed and a bit more accepting and mellow in general.  At the time, I was willing to try anything, so I did.

It was interesting.  I did feel less stressful and generally mellower.  She strongly recommended against drinking coffee while taking the pills, though, and that was a tough one.  Less stressful is good, but getting your work done is also good, and not being as efficient at work was causing stress and countering the effects of the pill.  So I gave up the pills and went back to coffee.  It's cheaper, too.

Really not certain if I could be functional without my morning coffee crutch.  I get up, walk straight to the coffee maker, put a k-cup in and brew a fresh cup.  Absolute necessity to get my morning started properly.

Man, I'm just trying to think back to seeing ACDC in the old days, and it was just a wall of noise.  Yet another reason why kids today have no clue just how fortunate they are.  Little shits.
You actually saw the great bands we adore in their prime and you cry about sound? Old shit!

Its a fair point but the sound issue is just valid and all were saying is its a shame it didn't sound as good back then as it does now.

Now, can I see an ID please? :tick2:

We've definitely done that.  We watched a few films we hadn't gotten around to, and went out to eat a time or two.  Nothing special, but it's been great.

We used to do that when the kids were younger.  It was awesome.

You don't have to do anything.  Just take some time to reconnect as a couple.  The couple you were when you were dating, and when you first got married before the kids came (if you actually did things in that order, which I guess isn't a given).

This week will be strange.  Our daughter is away at camp, and our son turns 18 on Wednesday.  The celebration of his attaining legal adulthood will be somewhat hampered by the fact that he hasn't actually done anything he needed to do prior to this event.  Find a job, find a place to live, actually come up with a plan for what he's gonna do with his fucking life.

But whatever.  I'm getting too old to give a shit anymore.  I've tried for 18 years to help this kid, offer the wisdom I've gathered and maybe help him avoid the same mistakes I made, and he's refused it every step of the way.  Let him find out how the world works the hard way, I guess.

We didn't, really.  When my wife and I met and started dating, her daugher from a previous relationship was 18 months old.  After the scumshit parental unit GAVE UP his parental rights, I adopted her after we got married.  But basically, we've never had a time when it was just us, before kids.  That's why we really like it when the kids are away.
