Old N00b here, reporting for duty.  Big DT fan, yet old enough to remember seeing Rush on the FTK tour in '77.

Another older Rush fan on the DTF.  Welcome!

Close enough to catch shows in Denver, but far enough away to not have to be in Denver.   :tup  Driven through CS a few times, but only stopped in once to see that big-ass waterfall.  The drive up to the falls was 10x better than the falls themselves.

Thank you Sir.  Good to be here.

Exactly.  I grew up in the Denver area and I work there now, but glad to be living where I do.  I think you are talking about Seven Falls - yes, quite the tourist trap.  There are many better places to visit in the Pikes Peak area, methinks.

Take what I say in a diff'rent way and it's easy to see that this is all confusion.

Too much alcohol consumption on Saturday and Sunday. I'm still feeling the effects. I just can't drink like I used to without paying for it big time. :P :tick:

The coltrane avatr has become so synonymous with me that I even have my own smiley because of it:

 :millahhhh

(though that's really more of a Miles than a 'trane).

What do you play?  I played double bass in combos and bigger bands in college.

Visited my old college town over the weekend, seeing the young kids made me feel really old.

Also, we did a couple other day trips over the long weekend with the family which led to lots of walking and carrying my 34lb daughter.  My knees have been killing me for 2 days now.
Dear Santa,
Please kill Icy for Christmas.

Love,

Everyone

So, today I turned 40.  I felt this was the appropriate place to state this.  I called my dad and asked about the secret over 40 handshake, but he pretended like nothing was going on.  Any advice from the small handfull ov vets older than me.....

I completly agree.  I tripped about it the last couple weeks, but woke up today, had my morning constitutional, and realized nothing changes, it just matures.

So, when can I expect said pains?

It's different for everyone, but as was pointed out upthread, most people agree that it's in your 40's when you start feeling all the effects of what you did to your body when you were younger, and start to notice that you're just not as young, quick, and sharp as you used to be.

Most people who never wore glasses before end up at least getting reading glasses in their 40's.  The 40's is also when you first really notice that it's tougher to keep the pounds off; you can't eat like you used to and just metabolize it anymore, because your metabolism is slowing down.  That's why people in general start getting fat as they get older (that and the fact that most can afford more and better food, but don't shake the habit of eating everything in sight, given the chance).  That kind of thing.

Plus, it's around now that if you had even a minor injury when you were younger, banged your knee on something, for example, it really starts to bug you now.  Sometimes.

But remember, people didn't even used to live to 40 most of the time.  George Carlin said that cancer, liver disease, heart failure, high cholesterol, all those horrible diseases... we used to have a cure for them.  It was called "death".  Modern science has enabled us to live well past the age we used to, but evolution hasn't caught up yet.  So we live in bodies where things are starting to break down and not work right anymore.  But it still beats the alternative.

That'll give me just about 10 years to build up before the inevitable decline...

I definitely enjoy being in my 30's, though. I suspect they will be a lot more enjoyable than my 20's.

Don't know if it'll make you feel any better, but it doesn't necessarily seem like "old fart" related issues, but rather something specific that happened.  And, if you rehab properly, you'll damn feel better once it's done.

I been meaning to ask how things are going with your lifestyle issues.  Haven't heard any updates, but I've assumed that no news worth reporting is good news.

Haven't posted here in a while.  Renovations still going on in my world.  Spent most of Friday and Saturday painting.  Since when do your lat muscles in your back ache after painting?  Well, they did yesterday.  Today isn't so bad.  Sunday was furniture moving day ... bringing in most of the stuff that was squirreled away into the garage for the renovation - bookcases, benches, boxes.  Basement is slowly but surely starting to take shape.

Wkimi... good to hear all of the positive progression you're making.

Great stuff.
