:( RIP to a legend. He lived a long life, and achieved a lot.

He certainly did live a long and productive life. Still sad, but I take comfort in knowing that he was able to achieve so much.

I'll be re-watching the original Wicker Man tonight to commemorate. He was fantastic

Yeah, it's sad when anyone passes away, but 93 was a great age to have lived to. RIP.

Right ! I guess the secret is to always be busy. My great auntie is 96 and lives on her own in a home and is really frail - but her memory is incredible. :|

She seriously remembers everything that ever happened to everyone ever in minute detail.

I scoured his IMDB listing to find something that would help me identify who he is and realized that, much to my surprise, I have not seen one single thing this guy has appeared in.  Sounds like he was awesome though.  RIP.

Well that's sad to wake up to.   :-[

Still, though, I take comfort in the knowledge that he certainly lived a full life.  Dying at 93 after being in over 200 films.  The guy is truly one of the greats, and he will be remembered as such for all time..

Rest in peace, Christopher Lee.  You've certainly earned it.

Seriously.  Come on, Coz.

I'm really serious.  Hopefully I didn't come across as disrespectful, but I saw all these postings on FB today and I was like "No idea who that is".  I haven't seen the Star Wars prequels, primarily on account of the fact that they aren't associated with the numbers 4, 5, or 6:

To be fair, anyone who hasn't seen the Star Wars prequels is probably better off.

But also because I'm lazy and haven't gotten around to it.  I haven't seen the LOTR movies.  I did see the original "Hobbit" animated film from 1977.  My movie watching habits consist mainly of re-watching old movies I've seen 1,000 times already.  New movies are basically anything my stepson wants to see badly enough to go to the movies for, which is mostly new Marvel films.

I just saw this in the comments section of that Telegraph article.  Just proves how much of a badass he truly was:

“I was attached to the SAS from time to time but we are forbidden – former, present, future – to discuss any specific operations. Let’s just say I was in Special Forces and leave it at that.”

On the LotR set, in preparation for the death of Saruman, Jackson suggested he imagine how a man being stabbed in the back sounded.

"Son", he replied, "I don't have to imagine."

I loved all of those old Hammer films of his. When he was paired with Peter Cushing, it was cinematic gold.

Not my favorite Bond movie, but one of my favorite Bond villains, and my first experience seeing him on film.

Have never seen him in any horror movies, not generally my cup of tea.

I'm not sure I've ever seen him in anything either.  I never liked Star Wars, so I never bothered with the prequels, and I got bored with the first Lord of the Rings about an hour into it, so I turned it off.  Okay, I guess I have seen something with him, although I have zero recollection of him.

Regardless, I am aware of what a screen legend he is.  R.I.P.

I have seen only a very limited portion of his filmography, and I have never heard any of his metal albums, but he had an incredible presence to him and I liked him in everything I ever saw him in.  He was far and away the best part of "Attack of the Clones," and he made that flaming turd "The Man with the Golden Gun" watchable.  He had quite a nice run in his eighties, with The Lord of the Rings trilogy (bonus features only for the third one) and the last two "Star Wars" prequels.

He wanted to be in the film version of LOTR very badly.  He came to his original audition (for Gandalf!) in a robe, so that Peter Jackson could get a good visual.

Also, when they were filming his death scene, Peter Jackson told him to imagine what it sounds like when  a man gets stabbed in the back.  Lee laughed and said, "I don't have to imagine what that sounds like."  He was British Special Forces/Intelligence during WWII.
