Everybody would win then.

BUT HEY
RESULTS WITHOUT PREVIEWS
I AM EVIL, AIN'T I?

Round 8: Closers - THE RESULTS

This roulette ends with a BANG, this round was filled with an amazing, varied and colorful round. You guys have done a great job, these are all good songs!

FIRST PLACE:  I really couldn't decide which was better between the two, so the first place is a tie, what the hell

Sacul, with "Hybrid Times" by Riverside

I once checked out Second Life Syndrome, but it was a total distracted listen and I didn't pay attention to it. Turns out, that Riverside are awesome! Or at least, this song is. It's pure prog goodness, every influence possible is in here, from Dream Theater to Yes to even modern stuff (I hear a bit of BTBAM in the vocals). This is a fun track, with cool vocal lines and riff ideas, and it really flows great, it doesn't sound like 11 minutes at all. I seriously can't wait to check out the other stuff from these guys as they seem right up my alley.

Nekov, with "Summer's Glory" by Alcest

Nekov, you've been doing great lately! This song is really beautiful. Melanchonic, but joyous and it's very atmospheric. Alcest is a band that's relatively known in my area because they did a concert nearby last year, but I didn't ever check 'em out. Ouch, I regret. This is a great incentive. This song is sung in french of course, and talks about summer, and it fits into my life because i'm truly living one of the best summers of my life right now. Amazing, gives me shivers towards the end thanks to that choir of "OOOOOOOH" - and it's for sure a great closer too. I see it working as that.

Both of you guys receive 9.5 points

SECOND PLACE: Shadowninja, with "The Frame" by Oceansize

I often see this band mentioned on here and on FB communities, but I never really understood how they sound like - now I get it. Post-rock-ish prog, eh? This is another really beautiful song. It's a powerful build up to the outro which is pure bliss, and it sounds like a perfect closer track. The vocal line is very sad, but the music is kind of uplifting, and I love the various layers of stuff. The only thing is that it drags a little bit, but it's damn good nevertheless. Good job.

9 points

THIRD PLACE: WebRaider, with "Continuum" by Amplifier

Well, it took you sometimes, but you finally sent a song that I enjoy a lot after quite a few meh rounds. Continuum is a great alternative-sounding song, with a lot of attention to sound production and that dark catchiness to it that makes me enjoy it so much. A cool thing about this track is that it's dynamically unstable, being quiet most of the time and exploding with noise once in a while. I like that, it gives it an interesting touch.

8.5 points

FOURTH PLACE: Elite, with "New Day" by Karnivool

This australian band always interested me, but I never actively listened to their stuff. Turns out that they aren't as heavy as I imagined, and they're catchy as hell. I just love the vocals in this piece, but it feels a little bit stretched out, and I can't manage to pay attention to it the whole way through. Still, it's a good tune and I see it being a good closer.

8 points

FIFTH PLACE: Evermind, with "Halloween" by Helloween

I like Helloween, so you did a good thing sending this tune. It's the longest tune in the roulette, being 13 minutes long, and my complaint is that it has just too much singing on it. There are lots and lots of good ideas in it, but I could've used somewhat of an instrumental break or something, otherwise it drags. And this does drag, even though I enjoy it enough.

7.5 points

SIXTH PLACE: Scorpion, with "Finality" by While Heaven Wept

This is another one of the emotional and atmospheric songs in this round. It's my least favorite because, well, the lyrics are a bit clichè being a love song, and I think that it's kinda boring, honestly. The vocal lines are veeery long in delivery and the rhythm is fairly slow (yeah, it's doom metal after all), and it just puts me to sleep and/or doesn't make me want to listen to the song that much. Not that bad though.

6.5 points

LAST PLACE: Sneakyblueberry, with "Dream Brother" by Jeff Buckley

Jeff Buckley, I was a bit surprised when I saw that you sent this guy, I didn't see it coming. This song is fairly dark and creepy, and presents oriental vocal lines. It didn't catch my interest at all though. Buuut I think it might close an album well, so I have a bit of mercy for you  :lol

6 points

--- This means that the final results are

Sacul - 66.5 points
Shadow Ninja -  65 points
Elite / Nekov - 64.5 points
Sneakyblueberry - 62 points
Scorpion - 60 points
Evermind - 59 points
Web Raider - 58 points

Now, under normal circustances, Sacul would've won the roulette. But there's one more round left, and that's just between him and Shadow Ninja.

Before unveiling the theme of the final round though, let me take a minute to thank each and everyone of you.
Even if you're in the last places, each one of you has sent at least one or two amazing tracks, that left me stunned, and I'm just gonna check out the rest of that stuff. So guys, thanks a lot for playing and it's been tons of fun!

OK, now for serious stuff:

Sacul and Shadow Ninja: you need to send me an epic. I mean like 15+ minutes song. And your points don't matter anymore. The winner of the roulette is gonna be the winner of this very round, so, whichever of you sends the song I like the most, earns the crown

Good luck and make me dream  :metal :metal

Hybrid Times is a god-tier song omg.

Deadman is my favourite Karnivool song, bit I didn't think it would be a good 'closer', while New Day is Karnivool's fan favourite and the song they almost always close shows with. It's also more accessible than Deadman or Change. SFTTH is good, but definitely in the bottom half if the album and I don't think it would be a good closer either.
