I've seen a lot of threads talking about the best and worst aspects of each album, but they almost always deal with studio albums only.

Where's the love for the live stuff?

Most of us have seen the band at least a couple of times, but the live albums and videos seem to get ignored, overlooked or disliked, instead of being considered an important part of their catalogue, as I think they should be.

So I would like to find out what everyone thinks is the best song or performance from each show or collection of performances.

My choices are as follows:

Live at the Marquee-A Fortune in Lies

Uncovered-perfect Strangers

Once in a LiveTime-Trial of Tears

Live Scenes from New York-Learning to Live

Live at Budokan-Beyond This Life

Score-Raise the Knife

Chaos in Motion-Surrounded

Live at Luna Park-Breaking all Illusions

Breaking the Fourth Wall-The Shattered Fortress

I'm sure there are other I shows that could have been included, but I mostly stayed with audio cds and shows that are available in the mainstream.

I'll stick to the ones I've watched/know enough.

Live Scenes from New York - The Dance of Eternity
Live at Budokan - Beyond This Life
Score - Octavarium
Live at Luna Park- (need to watch again)
Breaking the Fourth Wall - Illumination Theory

It was almost as asking the best studio song on it!

I haven't appreciated every live album to give a full opinion, but as fischermasamune said:

Live Scenes from New York - Learning to Live (If LaBrie had hit the mighty F#, that could have been the PERFECT version of the song, I LOOOOVE the reggae part)

Live at Budokan - Hollow Years (All hail Petrucci)

Score - Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence (My favorite song of all time played with an orchestra?? I'M GLAD TO BE ALIVE)

Live at Luna Park - Breaking All Illusions (The song comes to an amazing level live)

Breaking the Fourth Wall - Space-Dye Vest (I know it wasn't the first time played on that show, but man, finally after 20 years was played. Goosebumps everytime the piano comes)

I'm a studio guy, so I think every DT song is better on the album with few exceptions. Their songs are generally so perfectly crafted in the studio, that it's hard to top them.

The few exceptions for me are-
The LATM version of any WDADU track, and the Score version of Afterlife
Possibly the Budokan version of Hollow Years and New Millennium
Possibly the Score version of TSCO
Only King could mis-spell a LETTER.
Yep. I think the only party in the MP/DT situation that hasn't moved on is DTF.

Huge fan of live music over studio music, but that doesn't appear to be a popular thing in these parts.

LATM - Anorher Hand/The Killing Hand (James slays on this one)
OIALT - Take The Time (Just like the sound of it, and the Freebird solo is great!)
LSFNY - A Chabge of Seasons (Though LTL is close)
LAB - Instrumedley (One of my earlier impressions of the band, I was blown away watching it for the first time)
Score - Octavarium (One of my favorite songs and amazing performance)
CiM - The Ministry of Lost Soul (great song, great performance, Schmedley is a close second)
LALP - Surrounded (This one shines in an otherwise slightly dull set)
Happy Holidays 2013 - Endless Sacrifice (Everyone's on fire here, didn't care too much for this song until I heard this version, so energy, powah!)
BTFW - SFAM encore (kind of cheating here, but it's a fantastic encore, Finally Free is a great closer to a show)
