Fluffy, the overall aesthetic of the film is why it's universally praised. This post-apocalyptic world that George Miller created over 35 years ago is weird, strange, and off the wall. He continued that feel and tone with Fury Road, but just absolutely upped the stakes. It's not just his direction, it's not just the action, or the acting, it's the editing, it's the camera work, the music, the writing, the stunts, the practicality, the production design, the production VALUE that makes the movie one of the aesthetically pleasing movies of recent memory. For a movie of it's magnitude, the message is pretty deep. The progressive storytelling weaving in it's themes and motifs are brilliantly done. It truly is one of the best films of the year, and deserves every recognition it is getting.
