Glad you liked it.  Got the EP ready but haven't picked the open round song.  Will do that tonight.

His lowest score is 6.0 I think? Yeah, it's got to stay.

How about instead of the lowest score, Scorp gets his highest score removed?

Yeah, this seems strange to me. It's pretty much punishing those who were consistant the entire run. It doesn't effect me, really, as I'm tied for 4th in both rankings, but it still doesn't sit right. If any scores are dropped, it should be both the lowest AND highest. That way you're getting all the middle scores which would show more consistancy. Frankly, I don't know why scores are being dropped at all. But hey, it's not my roulette, and like I said it doesn't effect me!  :hat
I don't want MP playing with DT unless they were making a drummer change. If they let MM go and bring back MP, then fine, but no guest appearance please.

I cheated maybe a little tiny bit to get my EP under 30 minutes (the last minute of the last track is basically just the band leaving audio recording for a minute after the song ends, anyways... xD )

Yeah, this seems strange to me. It's pretty much punishing those who were consistant the entire run. It doesn't effect me, really, as I'm tied for 4th in both rankings, but it still doesn't sit right. If any scores are dropped, it should be both the lowest AND highest. But hey, it's not my roulette, and like I said it doesn't effect me!  :hat

If I was doing this all over again, I wouldn't have that rule. It was originally intended to encourage risk-taking, because I had this vision in my head of everyone playing it very safe and just sending stuff that they were very confident I would like (like a bunch of just straight prog rock/prog metal). I realized during the roulette that this was not needed to encourage risk-taking at all. However, I am still dropping the scores because I think it would be unfair to establish at the beginning that the lowest score would be dropped and then to turn around and not do that. I think it would have been unfair to, for example, Sacul, who took a risk and got a relatively low score in the first round, to turn right around and say "yeah, every score counts."

I understand being a little unhappy with the way things have fallen with regard to that rule, especially if you are Parama or ShadowNinja. But I'm not going to take back a rule that I said from the start that I would implement. That rule could just as easily have benefitted someone else.

And there's definitely still time to overcome Scorpion. There are 10 points to earn this round and then 20 points to earn in the EP round (because it's a collection of songs, it will be scored out of 20, as we decided would happen at the beginning). That's 30 points, though technically you could get perfect scores with bonus points, so there's a total of 31.5 points that you could conceivably earn in this roulette, out of a grand total of 105. So 30% of the total points are still on the table.

Pre-posting edit:

My planned EP is 30:04 in length. Damn.

If I can hit the stop button at the 30:00 mark and not miss out on anything, I don't care if the video goes on for four more seconds.  :lol

btw i don't want to send a video because that adds page loading time and can interrupt transitions (and I edited another one of the songs very slightly because there's like two seconds of transition into the next song at the end of it), I was planning on sending a .zip folder of mp3 files to you though  :lol

Yeah, that works just as well, maybe better, for these purposes. And, Evermind, if you did what Parama is doing, you could actively trim four seconds off of the files.

I can't find the post on the EP round, so two questions.

1. The OP said something about wagers, I gather from your recent posts that that's off the table?
2. Any minimum length for the EP that you'd prefer?

  • Yeah, I believe we discussed within the first couple pages of the thread that nobody really wanted to do wagers, so I said I would change it to a system where the EP score is out of 20 instead of 10. I just wanted to somehow reflect that this is not an ordinary round, and having a higher weight in the standings works just as well as the wagers that people didn't want. So there will be no wager. Scores will be done out of 20 instead of out of 10.
  • I didn't think a whole lot about a minimum length; I'm used to trying to hold people to a maximum length! I would say that if your EP is under 20 minutes, you ought to think about making it longer, because you'll be competing against 30-minute EPs that could have as many as 6 or 7 songs on them. I won't enforce that as a hard rule, but I would say that in this case more is probably more (as opposed to less is more).
