OP edited for new EXTRA Round!

Round 1..Kick my ASS Round!
Submit a track that will knock me out. Consider how an opening track of an album or a concert sets the tone. That’s what I’m looking for here.

Round 2..Savatage Round
Savatage is a band that I cannot get into. I need some convincing. And sorry Chad, no TSO.

Round 3..Guitar Hero Instrumental Round
The only Guitar Instrumental albums I have belong to Michael Schenker and Uli Roth. I know there are TONS of great albums out there. Let me hear them.  And while Steve Vai is most certainly allowed, please don’t send me The Attitude Song. I have that.

Round 4..Open Round

Round 5..Winger Round
You assholes wanted it, you got it! I suppose this saves me the trouble of disqualifying everyone at the same time because I know you guys were going to play shenanigans.
Why is Round 5 the Winger round? Because sucks has five letters. So does blows.  So does queer.

Round 6..Open Round

Round 7…Live Round
Must be a selection from a Live Album. No time limit.

Round 8…Epic Round
It’s not a DTF Roulette without an Epic Round right? 10-15 minute time limit here.

Round 9...WA WA NEE BITCH Round

Everyone else, except Wolfking is wrong.

I'm happy to say that I don't remember that Wa Wa nee BITCH song and it didn't stimulate me.

A Saturday night event but was on only random Saturdays?  What the?

yeah, the schedule was pretty sporadic.  here is the description from its wikipedia entry:

Quote
Although the show aired infrequently, it did, starting in 1986, settle into a predictable pattern of airdates: New Year's weekend, an episode in late February/early March, an episode in late April/early May, an episode in late September/early October, and Thanksgiving weekend. 1989 and 1990 both offered episodes in July promoted as "Summertime Bonus Editions."

I've got 5 of them already! :lol

I tried to edit all of them out in the picture, but I see that a little teaser got in there! :D

I actually was referring to the 12 minute live song.

I'm still torn on what to do.  I've got two to chose from, both I'm quite certain no one is thinking of - well, Ruslan might've liked to think about one of them, but I know he's far too ethical a person to cock-block me.  A rarity in Russia I'm sure.   :lol

he's not the only one.  LOVED Saturday Night's Main Event!  Although I never could figure out exactly which Saturday's it was going to air.  After the local news ended, it was either going to be a rerun of Mama's Family (most of the time) or this:

Did you grow up in Canada?? I seriously have no recollection of SNME whatsoever.

nope, it definitely aired in the US.  It was in the late-night time slot on NBC.

I'm sure he'd never undercook anything.  ;D

Anyway, I'm listening to the live songs, it's quite an eclectic collection. I would say that if there was ever a time to send something out of my comfort zone, the Live Round would be it.

So, I'm cutting the grass today to the playlist, and I got to thinking. A couple of you guys I don't know that well, and Im happy everyone joined my roulette.

To everyone, if you guys could listen to only 5 bands for the rest of your life who would they be. For me, it'd be my Top 5 Bands:

Dream Theater
Iron Maiden
UFO
Alice Cooper
Dio (whole career discog)

And you??

If any lurkers want to list, please do.

Yeah, but that's kind of cheating. I mean, best albums of Helloween, plus Unisonic, Place Vendome, Avantasia (which should probably count too, since he's singing on every album). That's too good to be allowed. :lol

Oh, and Kiske / Somerville too.

mostly in the interest of getting a lot of variety in there, I guess  :lol
i don't think this is my top 5 all time bands though, probably close, the first three almost definitely would all be top 5 though

Top 4 are no brainers.

Led Zeppelin
Rush
DT
Ayreon (actually... all Arjen projects)
Spock's Beard

SB is purely due to the depth of their discog.  Was thinking of S-X and Avantasia, but went with SB due to having more albums.

Haha, no David Gray is not from American Idol. He is, however, laughing in my avatar. He's a singer-songwriter in the tradition of Bob Dylan, Van Morrison, Bruce Springsteen, etc. At least, that's how I would've described his first 3 (of 10) albums or so. After that he progressed and developed in a few different ways, experimenting with more Pop, Electronica and other stuff.

Ludovico Einaudi is more in the realm of Classical, but definitely not in the classical sense  ;) of the genre. Again, some electronic experimentation, strange instrumentation, minimalist compositions, etc.

lurker post:

Gonna cheat a bit on the 5 bands for the rest of my life, and have my first two be people, because I pretty much listen to side projects more than DT:

1. Mike Portnoy (he is my most listened to artist. it doesn't matter much what project it is, I usually like it a lot)
2. James LaBrie (LOVE his voice, and a lot of his side-project/solo stuff is amazing)
3. Metallica (MUST include live albums/B-sides)
4. Pink Floyd (I couldn't live not knowing I'd never hear Shine On or The Wall again)
5. Green Day (just to break up the prog/metal fest I would have)

That's actually quite tough. I could make a seperate list of five different bands and be completely happy. In fact:

1. Styx/Dennis DeYoung
2. Rush
3. "Weird Al" Yankovic
4. 311
5. The Beatles

...would be just fine.

Spock's Beard

SB is purely due to the depth of their discog.  Was thinking of S-X and Avantasia, but went with SB due to having more albums.

That's the trick. You gotta pick bands with a lot of albums.
I don't want MP playing with DT unless they were making a drummer change. If they let MM go and bring back MP, then fine, but no guest appearance please.
WELP.

Tim, I should've tried sending you a Helker track at some point in this roulette. I don't know if you've ever heard the name (not very popular), but they're a heavy metal band from Argentina and the vocalist has been compared to Dio on more than one occasion. While I think Dio is better- better than just about any other heavy metal vocalist apart from Dickinson- this guy is still really strong. Maybe you'd be interested in hearing him sing in Spanish.
