All the audio bootlegs in existence amount to about ~600GB at best, the rest is video. Let's say there are 10 Blu Ray recordings out there, those are another 200GB circa. The rest is all video bootlegs.

Let's say the average size of a DVD bootleg is 5GB (accounting for the both the double DVDs and the lighter ones), it gives around 1.2TB/5GB=240 DVDs circa. It's a rough estimate, but it shouldn't be too far from the truth.

Wait, it was 3TB, not 2TB. This makes the overall number of DVDs around 400. It's way too many, maybe I underestimated the overall audio share of the collection.

I'm thinking that audio guestimate should be higher.  I have over 500 audio boots and I know I don't have everything out there.  You gotta figure they average at least 1GB per show because those "Evening With" shows are close to (or over) 2GB each, right?  Plus, you have 16- and 24-bit versions of many shows.  It could be close to 1TB.

Even then the total Video minus Blu Ray still amounts to 1.5 TB at least! That's huge!

Besides the varying length of the shows and if they're 16 or 24 bit (nevermind if they're 44kHz, 48kHz or 96kHz), there's also compression - FLAC, SHN and no compression at all. So amount of space that an audio collection of boots can take can vary a lot, depending on those things.
As a basic rule, if you hate it, you must solely blame Portnoy. If it's good, then you must downplay MP's contribution to the band as not being important anyway, or claim he's just lying. It's the DTF way.

I would definitely think that audio total would be closer to 1TB.  I have around 600GB of DT shows now and still missing a handful.

It's a lot more than a TB. The shows I have on HD's is over 2TB and most are 48/24 flac. I also have another 2 to 300 shows on CD. I have another 10TB of video, but I don't save the type of video the normal collector saves. Most of my video is raw camera from multiple angles.

I'm starting to realize that.  I keep finding more shows that I don't have.  My 1TB drive is almost at its max and I've had to start taking shows off it and archiving them on disc to make room for more shows to download.

But seriously, between the shows I have taped, the GDT shows I master, the stuff I did for DT, LTE, MP, FC, TA, TWD and NMB at last count 15 HD's. Video editing takes up a lot of HD.

Are you referring to the Mansfield 1998 show? If so, actually it was OpenYourEyes311 who wanted that particular show - just checked my HD o'boots and I've already got that one. Sorry for the confusion.

Of course, if it's a different show you're speaking of, which one?

No, that's the one in the original list. I shall cross it off because we both have it now.  :)  I already shared it with OpenYourEyes311.

I was executive producer for T2 live in LA. That show is almost 2TB. 3 hours, 10 raw cameras, edit masters, outputs in HD and SD, all the raw audio, and final audio. Artwork, menus and associated filework.

Actually twanky, would you mind listing the rest? There's always a chance that there's something that isn't widely circulated. And for those of us who don't have complete collections, it's nice to know what is definitely out there in circulation (instead of having to look at a million different lists).

I may have Roma 2000 on my oldest HD (not the one that was dropped), which may or may not still be fuctioning and may or may not be this side of the Thyrrenian sea. If you are talking audio, I don't think there ever was a video version of that.
If my somewhat small knowledge of bootlegs doesn't prove me wrong, I think you're correct. I don't think there ever was a video version. I too have the audio, however, I think the hard drive it was on was lost in the mists of time (the HDD failed) however, if I'm wrong, and I have that, I'll find a way to get it to you guys!

What sorts of compression you use for the raw video?
As someone with a stupid fascination with placebo fidelity, I eagerly await the day when having 19TB for that raw footage (assuming 1080p, 8 bit color, 29.97 fps) is feasible.
Right now I do archiving of my school plays, and since I'm an unemployed high school student, I'm struggling to have a place to store all that video. Before control of video production equipment was turned over to an old dick, I'd have at least two angles * three performances * 90 minutes of each play in 24Mb/s H.264 1080p video... I miss those days. Now I know a thing or two about audio recording (the cameras I used at the time only support stereo AC3@384kbps) and could make a really good quality Blu-Ray of my school plays. Oh well...

I mostly use prores and H.264. But you have to be careful as there are various levels of compression. For full archival I never go below 1k stream. For the hires stuff I usually will go prores 444 10 or 12 bit, it doesn't shrink the video by a whole lot, but at least if I need the footage later, I don't have to go through the decompression. Lately I have been using the ARRI Alexia or Black Magic cameras that shoot these formats natively.
