The Last Picture Show - 1971

Pretty cool coming of age character study, featuring Cybill Shepard and Randy Quaid in their first roles, plus Jeff Bridges, Timothy Bottoms and several other name actors.

Went into NYC last night for a 10th anniversary screening of The Dark Knight in 70mm Imax. Good lord some of those action sequences were breathtaking  :eek :eek

Snatch (Guy Ritchie movie, ensemble cast for various criminals in the London underground after a diamond and easy money from illegal fights).

What a riot of a movie. Possibly as funny and clever as the Tarantino ones. I probably have to rewatch it 'cause the pace is so fast that it's hard to get acquainted with all the characters and their motivations during the first run though. It's not that I didn't understand anything, but it's one of those movies where a rewatch can help make it even better.

That was on TV a week ago. I have never seen it until then. Saw it was National Lampoon and decided to watch it. Its really stupid but funny. I liked how much detail they put in the backgrounds, usually random stuff. The casting is good too.

I went and saw The Meg on Sunday.  It was fun.  A good "shark flick."  No high art going on.  A little like Skyscraper in that regard.

The thing of it was that it didn't resonate with me as being anything like the book, although it's probably been 10-15 years since I read the book, so I can't say I remember everything completely.  It felt like the movie was based on the same concept as the book and had most of the same main characters, but the plot seemed very different.

I think I remember hearing beforehand that it was a reinterpretation and would not follow the book, so your take is probably correct.

I looked at the plot summaries on Wikipedia.  Same basic concept, but plots are completely different -- especially the main character's ex-wife.  By the way, if the actress who plays the main guy's ex-wife on Orville ever quits, the actress who played the main character's ex-wife in The Meg is a dead ringer.

It's been several years since I watched Sleepy Hollow. Still one of my favorites. Aside from the CGI and birds, the special effects still look great.

Around the Day of the Dead I always watch either that or Dracula. It's been some time since I haven't seen Sleepy Hollow, probably this time around I'll go for it again.

It has everything: Johnny Depp before he was too much Johnny-Depp-ish, Tim Burton before he was too much Tim Burton-ish, three Sith Lords, Dumbledore and an Iron Maiden!!!  :metal

You know, I'm amazed at myself. I haven't even seen Sleep Hollow at all, I love that story too. I should see it sometime. It'd be cool if netflix has it during October.

Apparently, a sixth/final Die Hard movie -- to be called McClane -- is in the works....

Well, the 1st 4 were.  That 5th Die Hard though.

Ouch.

Even though the unrated version of Live Free or Die Hard has very obvious ADR for the naughty words, it's still better than the PG-13 version. I do like the movie though. Bruce Willis still cared, and even though he was pretty much invincible, it was very entertaining. Also, Timothy Olyphant is my man crush lol

Skyscraper. I watched it already resigned it to be bad, just because I had nothing to do and I liked the idea to see a giant skyscraper, and I almost enjoyed. Cliched and over the top but all in all the story made sense (most of the time). It was action from the get go however, I thought they'd show off the skyscraper a bit more.

This had some pretty funny moments in it, and overall was ok.  But not a movie that I would go out of my way and watch again.
