Saw Logan last night, and what a movie. More superhero movies should be rated R, it was violent but it wasn't completely over the top. I can't wait to see it again.

Yes, I watched it last Thursday and liked it a lot. Not your average superhero movie. It felt more like a character drama in parts, but not in a bad way at all.

Get Out.

Enjoyable film.   Not really worth the 99% it's got on RT though.  Continues the trend of modern horror movies not actually being scary, but makes up for it with enjoyable characters and a 'interesting' plot.   7/10

Watching Doctor Strange. It's good but i've never liked extended fist fights.

It's like yeah yeah punchy punchy - good guy wins in the end.

Just got back from Beauty and the Beast.  Pretty good adaptation.

So just to be clear, it's a live-action version of Disney's animated version of the story?

I've only seen the animated version prior to the movie, but I read the movie adapts from the musical and the original source as well. So it isn't a 100% version of the animated movie.

So it's like a second derivative of the story.  Well, it's Disney, so it's probably pretty good.

Disney’s live-action “Beauty” was a beast at the box office, opening with an estimated $170 million in North American ticket sales and setting a new high mark for family movies.

“Beauty and the Beast” blew past the previous record-holder for G- or PG-rated releases, according to studio estimates Sunday. Last year, Disney’s “Finding Dory” debuted with a then-PG-best $135 million.

It took in $180 million overseas, including $44.8 million in China, Disney said.

The theater was packed for a 4pm showing yesterday.

Independence Day: Resurgence.

Loved it, loved seeing almost the entire main cast from the first film back together, plus a new, younger generation of main characters.  A few great lines, including Brent Spiner's quip about getting his injured partner to "sickbay."   :lol

I didn't mind Independence Day 2 but the ending felt so tacked on.

The scene after they killed the queen was like everyone was available for 1 day and they quickly shot it on green screen.

Assassin's Creed.

I never played the game but for the game being so famous for me to know it anyway and even some of the settings and characters names, I would have expected something more.

Scrap out of existance the game and present it as an original idea, it's still a run of the mill action movie with fights and convoluted plots and the same old stuff. Not bad, but I expected to go "whoah, that's why the game is so famous!"
I use my sig to pimp some bands from Italy! Check out Elvenking (Power / Folk metal), Folkstone (Rock / Medieval metal), Arcana Opera (Gothic/Noir/Heavy metal) and the beautiful voice of Elisa!

As far as I knew, the story of the Assassin's Creed movie isn't from any of the games, but the concept is the same. I thought it was alright. I enjoyed it pretty much as I thought I would.

But I thought Independence Day 2 was terrible.

I know HITB hated the original Independence Day and vastly preferred the new one - but it's the other way around for me.

Prolly coz I saw the original in the cinema when I was about 17.

The new one started well but by the end it looked cheap and the set pieces didn't hit home for me.

Honestly I don't particularly like the original either. It's alright I guess, the definition of dumb fun summer spectacle, but it's nothing that I ever regarded highly as a classic or anything.

Finally saw Arrival. I thought it was quite good, and a little different to what I was expecting, in a good way.

I thought Independence Day Rehash was terrible.   Such a lazy, boring film and WTF was the pointless Judd Hirsch subplot (boat, bus, kids) about?   Probably the worst film I've seen at the cinema for a good while.

Edit : Actually I saw 'I, Frankenstein' at the cinema - so ID2 is second worst, in recent memory.

Glad you liked it, it's been one of my favorite movies in recent memory.

I actually thought the first hour or so was pretty good. The big battles weren't as good as last time around.
