Fawlty Towers
« on: March 26, 2015, 01:14:33 AM »
A show that unfortunately lasted for just 12 episodes. I still watch them over and over and laugh as much as I did the first time I saw them. This is the show that introduced me to British humor and since then I've watched numerous others such as Allo Allo, Keeping Up Appearances, Monty Python, Mr. Bean, The Black Adder, and Are You Being Served.  So lets discuss the hysterical antics of Basil and Manuel.  What's everyone's favorite episode?

They're all great! So hard to choose just one!

The episode where they're doing a posh dinner party and Basil keeps ruining the main course

The one where the Germans come to stay

The episode with the fraudster with bricks in his briefcase..."well...better put the picture up!"

The episode where Sybil goes away golfing and Basil get's some cowboy builders in to do some renovations on the hotel!

They have dated somewhat...but they're still great to watch.

I don't recall the name of the episode but the one where Basil is mouthing words to make the annoying old lady think her hearing aid isn't working and then shouts his head off after she turns it up to 11  :lol

One of my favourite shows ever. I grew up with it, and a lot of the lines are still stuck in my head ;D
Zydar is my new hero.  I just laughed so hard I nearly shat.

The Kipper and the Corpse is the one that still puts me into hysterics no matter how many times I've seen it. When Ms. Tibbs starts screaming murder after seeing the stiff and Polly knocks her out it just kills me. Locking her in the wardrobe with the body was an added bonus, topped off with Manuel doing the Mexican hat dance as a reply to Basil stomping on the nonexistent mouse.

Honorable mention to the Waldorf salad guy. That dude was an absolute riot.

I don't remember much of this - it was probably 20 years ago when I watched it all - but I just remember that it was freaking hysterical.  I need to find the time to revisit this.

To me it was a really straightforward sitcom. And after Monty Python it was a bit of a let down to see John Cleese do something so ordinary.
