Good call. Blackened is also my favorite Metallica song, and Dyer's Eve is awesome too!

Here's the MoP averages.

1. Master of Puppets- By a landslide.
2. Welcome Home (Sanitarium)- Sitting comfortably in second place.
3. Battery- Also sitting fairly comfortably.
4. Disposable Heroes- Big gap after this.
5. Orion- Sitting comfortable.
6. Damage Inc- HUGE gap between Orion and this.
7. Leper Messiah- Decent sized gap between the two around it.
8. The Thing That Should Not Be- Wasn't even close.

So, yeah, nothing was even really close to each other.  I would say this order looks pretty legit, to be honest.

...And Justice For All: Ah, such a great album.  This album is extremely underrated and i actually like it a lot better than MoP.  It's heavy, it's thrashy and it's even got some prog elements in there.  Though it has a couple problems, I still love it.  Album Ranking: 2/9

9. To Live is to Die- No offense to Burton or anything, but I just cannot get into this song.  It's too long (for Metallica) and I often find myself bored.  I haven't listened to the full thing in years.

8. Eye of the Beholder- This song feels very by the numbers and generic to me.  Never really got into it.  The good thing, though, is that this is the last "weak" song in my opinion.

7.Harvester of Sorrow- Pretty good song, but just doesn't stand up to the more heavy hitters on the album.

6. One- I know I'm gonna get shit for this, but I find "Fade to Black", "Sanitarium", "The Unforgiven" and "The Day That Never Comes all to be better "ballads" than this one.  It's good, but definitely overrated.

5. Dyer's Eve- It's fast, it's furious, it's awesome.  Nothing else more to say, really.

4. The Shortest Straw- I'll be honest, it was VERY close between this and number 3.  They're still about dead even, but I figured I've heard this song more, so it's a little more overplayed to me.  Both still fantastic songs to me.

3. ...And Justice For All- Pretty much dead even with "The Shortest Straw", but this one I've listened to less.  Plus, it's longer, which (in the case) makes a great song even better.

2. The Frayed Ends of Sanity- Extremely underrated.  This song is just epic, and I love every second of it.  My favorite part is the bridge riff.  So thrashy and proggy, I love it.

1. Blackened- After "Fight Fire With Fire", and "Battery", they finally got it perfect.  Pretty much a perfect song from beginning to end, and might even be in my Top 5.

My third favorite of the "big 4" Metallica albums. I've since come to like RTL just a bit more, but AJFA is still a pretty kick-ass record, all things considered. Definitely a lot darker and grittier than their previous releases, and actually pretty atmospheric at times.

This one will probably have the closer calls.  The difference between the best and worst song is very little.  I will probably drop out after this album because they are like a boxer after this.  Don't know when to get out on top before they get punch drunk (finances grew as the legacy sank)

I think Megadeth would be even more interesting than Metallica, because while Metallica has all "either terrible or awesome" albums, a lot of Megadeth's releases are in the middle and the opinions will be a lot more diverse.  There's a lot of underrated gems in Megadeth's discography.

Ok, here's the ranking averages for ...And Justice For All.

1. Blackened- Wasn't even close.
2. One- Also wasn't close.
3. ...And Justice For All- Sitting comfortably.
4. Dyer's Eve- Just edged out in fourth place.
5. The Frayed Ends of Sanity- Lost to "Dyer's Eve" by only 7 points.
6. The Shortest Straw- These last four are dead last by a landslide.
7. To Live Is To Die- I really thought this would take last.
8. Eye of the Beholder- It was close between these last two.
9. Harvester of Sorrow- The problem here was that not enough people seem to love it, so it gets a lot of 5's, 6's, and 7's.  It almost came in 8th though.

Favorite Metallica record, this one

Metallica (The Black Album)- Yeah, this album gets a lot of crap I think, and it's pretty undeserved.  Is it perfect?  No, far from it.  In fact, it's not nearly as good as "the big three" Metallica albums (in my opinion, at least).  But I feel it's hard to compare them.  This album isn't  a thrash album.  It's a bare bones Heavy Metal album.  They weren't going for thrash here, though there is still thrash elements to be found here.  Overall, very solid album that gets way too much hate as being "the album that started Metallica's decline", as opposed to looking at the album on its own.  Album Ranking: 5/9.

12. Don't Tread On Me-  Yeah, this might be their worst song up to this point.  What were they thinking?

11. My Friend of Misery- Never got into it, to be honest.  I always found it boring.

10. Nothing Else Matters- Good for a wedding song, but other than that, overrated.  I don't get it, they have so many better ballads than this.

9. Through the Never- Solid fast paced song, but eh, doesn't do a whole lot for me.

8. Of Wolf and Man- Awesome intro and verses, but the rest of the song doesn't really hold up to it.

7. Sad But True- Overrated, but it's still a good song.

6. Enter Sandman- Also overrated, but you gotta love that riff.

5. Holier Than Thou- I love the energy in this song, but it's still nothing special.

4. The Struggle Within- I can't help but headbang to this one.  They wanted to close the album with a band and they did.  Awesome song.

3. The God That Failed- Very underrated.  I love the riff, love the energy and the solos are just awesome.  Powerful song.

2. The Unforgiven- Probably a Top 15 song for me.  Amazing from beginning to end, and easily the best in the trilogy.

1. Wherever I May Roam- Easily a Top 10 song for me.  I love everything about it.
