Bells and Fade are pretty low for me, I think they both have some great ideas that sorta go nowhere and don't resolve; I've always hated the way both songs end. Trapped Under Ice is meh. Escape blows goats.

James singing sharp as fuck on the last verses of a couple songs always makes me lol. Great album.

I think the same about Justice. The production, plodding tempo and James grunting delivery really bog it down for me.

Here's the ranking of the averages of Ride the Lightning scores.

1. Creeping Death- It wasn't even close.
2. Fade to Black- FTB holds second place comfortably.
3. Ride the Lightning- These three DESTROYED everything underneath. Not even close.
4. Fight Fire With Fire- Just squeezes out for fourth place.
5. For Whom the Bell Tolls- Lost to FFWF by ONE POINT.
6. The Call of Kthulu- Much farther down, TCOK sits comfortably in sixth.
7. Trapped Under Ice- WAY far down sits TIC.
8. Escape- Dead last...it wasn't even close.

Master of Puppets: Ah...the big Master of Puppets. In all seriousness, I think this album is overrated. Not saying it's bad at all, it's not. In fact, it's an amazing album. But I strongly believe that this was not Metallica's highest point. Album Ranking: 4/9

8. The Thing That Should Not Be- A pretty good song, but I feel it should have been shorter. It drags on a bit and the riffs aren't very exciting enough to hold you for almost 7 minutes. Still a very good song, but this album has much better ones.

7. Master of Puppets- I'm about to be flamed so hard for this. Hear me out. It's a great song, but the length of it just doesn't feel natural to me. It gives me the feeling that Metallica just wanted to have another 8 and a half minute song, so they added the middle section. Disposable Heroes does this MUCH better, in my opinion. Overall, still classic Metallica, but vastly overrated.

6. Damage Inc.- Very solid thrasher right here, but it feels slightly filler to me. There's enough thrash songs on here to overshadow this one.

5. Battery- Does what Damage Inc. does, but does it better. This song is fast, furious and doesn't let up. Definitely a better intro song than FFWF, but still nothing overly special.

4. Orion- I used to love this song A LOT when I was a kid, it was one of my favorites. But after getting into Dream Theater, Orion just doesn't effect me as much anymore. It lost some of its beauty when I heard Erotomania and Dance of Eternity. I can't really explain it. Still a fantastic song, though, and definitely Metallica's best instrumental.

3. Disposable Heroes- The best thrasher on the album, in my opinion, and one of the best thrah songs they have period. It's over 8 minutes, but doesn't quite feel like it. Nothing else to say, really. I love this song.

2. Leper Messiah- If there was one song that would say is the single most underrated by Metallica, it would be this one. It's FANTASTIC. It's powerful, heavy, and you can't help but head bang to it, even though it's not really a thrash song.

1. Welcome Home (Sanitarium)- This song falls SLIGHLY below Fade to Black for me as a ballad, but it's still an amazing song. The bridge is easliy the best part and the rest of the song is amazing as well.

MoP is easily my least favorite of the Big 3. Many of the songs are brought down by mediocre solos, though the title track is by far the worst offender.

Although this is damning it with faint praise - I firmly belive Master Of Puppets is a near flawless album - at least composition wise.

What I liked that they did during the 20 year anniversary of it was that they did a Europe festival leg where they played it in its entirety and that Rock AM Ring had a proshot of it. They, obviously, nailed it well.

MOP is definitely my favourite by Metallica and one of the best metal albums ever. The only weak point for me is The Thing That Should Not Be, I never connected with it anywhere near as much as the others.

Anesthesia gets a bad rep, but I quite like it. Metal Militia and Motorbreath are the only songs that don't really do anything for me. Strong album as a whole, just not my favorite Metallica album.

Ride the Lightning:

3. Creeping Death
4. The Call of Ktulu

The number of songs that I don't get much out of dwindled to one on this one with Escape. It's a small bump in an otherwise stellar album.

Yeah, not a big fan of Seek to be honest. It's a tough call to choose between Whiplash and Lightz. They're both fast, In-your-face statements of a new born band saying "We are ready to kick your ass"

This is IMO the best Metallica album they've ever made. Again it was tough to choose between Ride and Fire, But I think Ride really sums up everything good about the 80's Metallica.

I honestly don't listen to Kill 'em All enough to give it a fair song ranking. As for the Trilogy, my favorite's always been ... And Justice For All. The top four or five songs on that particular list are all featured on my personal Top 5 or 10 Metallica Songs and I'd wager the whole album is on my Top 25 or 30. I know for sure that Blackened is at the very top of that list for me.
