Looking at this year's thread, and thinking about last year, has made me realize something.

I'm done going to concerts.

Back in the day, it was easy: the bands I liked either played the Hampton Coliseum or the Norfolk Scope. 20 minute drive at best. Lately though, I'm fortunate if a band's closest stop is either Washington DC, about three-four hours away, or some of the bigger cities in North Carolina that are five-plus hours away. I'm nearly 50 years old. I've hit the point in my life where I get off work, come home, and crash at about 10:00PM. While I'm sure I could, if motivated, go to a show in Norfolk if a band I like comes there, or perhaps if DT was in Washington doing An Evening With show, I think my days of "ohhh, X is playing in DC, let's go!" are done.

Get off my yard while we're at it!  :lol

Winery Dogs are coming by me in October, I plan on going to that.  Also got my Nightwish tickets for 2016, but that doesn't count for this thread.

The only concert for me this year, as far as I know, is:

Weird Al Yankovic - September 25th

I belive this is the first time he has ever played a concert in Norway, that I'm aware of at least.

Also, I feel slightly ashamed. Haven't posted anything on this forum since February last year.

Looking at this year's thread, and thinking about last year, has made me realize something.

I'm done going to concerts.

I am reaching that point as well.  I even thought that last week that I should retire from concerts, letting Rush's (likely) last St. Louis date be my final show, but I already have tickets to the Decemberists next weekend, and there is no way I won't go see Muse the next time they come in town, so that was a fleeting thought :lol, but make no mistake about it, my concert days will be few and far between.  It doesn't help that the average concert crowd sucks nowadays.  I noticed it at Death Cab last week.  People are so worried about talking, playing with their phones, and taking videos, that they forget to actually enjoy the moment.  It's easy to say, forgot about those people and just enjoy it yourself, which I always do, but an energetic crowd will always make a show better, while a dead crowd will take away from it, and energetic crowds seem to be the exceptions now rather than the norm.

I can't see myself retiring from concerts, just limiting how many I see every year. I can see myself seeing live jazz til I drop dead.

So far, we've been to see ZZ Top and the M3 Rock Festival.  We still have Motley Crue/Alice Cooper, Rush, and AC/DC coming up.  AC/DC will be a road trip to Foxboro, MA for us, since the closer one in NJ is on like the 2nd day of school for Jr.

Just saw Zappa Plays Zappa at the symphony hall last week- amazing! They even brought some folks from the symphony on for two songs, which was awesome.
June- Steven Wilson in Boulder (this will be especially awesome because I got the day off work and Tony will be here for it)
July- The Aristocrats, in the same tiny amazing hippy club I saw them in last time. So. Fucking. Pumped.

Also planning to see something at Red Rocks this summer (I mean, ya gotta), but not sure what yet.

I totally forgot, I'm seeing the Buena Vista Social Club in August! That's going to be badass.

SW show in less than two weeks, wooo!
Oh Jackie, always jumping to the most homoerotic possibility.

Tony MacAlpine last night in Austin.

Their gear got stolen the night before or early in the morning... still put on a hell of a show using LoNero's gear.

Post from FB:

Friends,
Our trailer was broken into overnight at our hotel in Austin, TX, and the thieves stole all of Tony's guitars.
Serial numbers will be added shortly:
- his black Ibanez Guitars custom 7-string with EMG Pickups installed (serial LA071509);
- his white Ibanez 7-string with black EMG 707 pickups (serial LA0168);
The above guitars are Tony's only two Ibanez 7's and he has been photographed with them extensively.
Also stolen were a Peavy EVH sunburst, a white Carvin 7-string; plus Tony's pedalboard.
All of Bjorn's basses were stolen:
- Carvin Amplifiers Blue PB 4 custom
- Carvin Black PB 5 custom
- Carvin SeaFoam Green PB 5
- 2 Carvin wireless transmitters with Guitar straps (inkl 1 red custom alligator)
- Misc. Tools, strings, batteries etc etc
Aquiles Priester's drum gear was also stolen:
Mapex USA Drums Saturn IV
1 X 8"X7" Rack Tom
1 X 10"X8" Rack Tom
1 X 12"X9" Rack Tom
1 X 10"X4" Snare (Steel)
1 X 6"X4" LP Timbale
1 X Eletronic bag with:
- cables
- heaphones
- ipod support
- 4 roland triggers
- TM-2 roland module
- gibraltar spare parts
Paiste Cymbals
Paiste Bag 1:
1 X Rude China Basher 14”
2 X Rude Splash 10”
1 X 602 Splash 10”
2 X Signature Splash 8”
2 X 2002 PsychOctopus Giga Bell Ride 18”
1 X Signature Heavy Hi-Hat 14”
1 X 2002 Sound Edge Hi-Hat 15”
Paiste Bag 2:
1 X Signature Power Crash 17”
3 X Signature Power Crash 18”
1 X Signature Power Crash 19”
1 X Rude Basher 18”
1 X Rude Thin Crash 18”
1 X Rude Thin Crash 19”
2 X Signature Heavy China 18”
As you can imagine, this has completely disabled our tour. When you take a musician's instruments you remove their livelihood.
Please share this post! We hope our network of friends and fans can help us recover our gear.

The family saw Rush perform on
6/8
6/10
6/12
6/14
6/17
6/19
6/21
6/23
6/25
6/27
and 6/29.

Saw 5 ballgames during that time span as well. Just got back from Toronto Saturday morning. Spent nearly all day yesterday lounging in the pool. I'm headed back to the pool in about 5 minute with a pitcher of iced tea. I'm exhausted. :lol

I plan to hook up again by myself with the guys in Vegas on 7/25.
Then meet them in LA on the 28th for the shows on 7/30 and 8/1.

Yeah, sounds rough.   ::)

Too bad you don't want to spill the beans on who TV really is... plenty of us would love to have a meetup with TempusVox - regardless of your secret identity.

Concerts still to go for me...

Evergrey/Borealis (and I think Voyager)
Scorps/Queensryche
Kamelot
Symphony-X/Overkill

Think that'll do it.  Not sure if there's anything else on the horizon.  Def Leppard next week is a long shot.

Just checked ticket prices - $116 for section 300 is as good as it gets.  Considering Jeff Keith sounds like shit nowadays, I'm not sure about this.
