Looking for good quality versions of certain songs
« on: December 11, 2014, 12:43:00 AM »
Ok so basically I'm looking for what the bootlegging community considers to be the 'best versions/recordings' of some songs and when/where they were played. Some songs that I had in mind are:

-A Change of Seasons (preferably a pre-vocal incident version if one exists)
-Lines in the Sand
-Ministry of Lost Souls
-Take the Time (preferably pre-vocal incident)
-The Killing Hand (even though it was an overdub, is there a version that compares to the Marquee recording?)
-The Glass Prison/This Dying Soul
-Beyond This Life
-A Nightmare to Remember
-Voices (pre-vocal incident)
-The Mirror/Lie
-The Way it Used to Be

That's pretty much all I can think of at the moment, hopefully you guys will deliver!

-A Change of Seasons (preferably a pre-vocal incident version if one exists) // NYC 1993.03.04, but it's not the version of the song that eventually made the disc. Still, it's great and a great performance. No version of the final ACOS exists pre-incident, as the final stages of its rewriting took place well into 1995. A great post-accident version would be LSFNY or Barcelona 2004
-Lines in the Sand // Probably Bucharest
-Ministry of Lost Souls
-Take the Time (preferably pre-vocal incident) // Pre-accident, LIT is probably the best, unless you prefer cleaner vocals, in which case I would suggest long island, 1992.10.04. Post accident there's the Awake In Japan performance, with a great ending jam.
-The Killing Hand (even though it was an overdub, is there a version that compares to the Marquee recording?) // many of them do, try Long Island 1992.10.04 or NYC 1993.03.04
-The Glass Prison/This Dying Soul // Those were performed back to back in 2004 and 2006. Not really sure which I would consider the best recording of this combo
-Beyond This Life // 2004.04.03 or 2004.04.01 or 2004.03.03. The first is probably easiest to find online
-A Nightmare to Remember // check out something from the South American 2010 tour
-Voices (pre-vocal incident) // I don't know, Minneapolis 94?
-The Mirror/Lie // Fourth Wall
-The Way it Used to Be // London, 1998.06.23

That's pretty much all I can think of at the moment, hopefully you guys will deliver!

For Voices, maybe The Rudess Experiment?
"I raised the baby, I changed the baby's diapers.  Whenever the baby had projectile diarrhea, I was there in the line of fire.  I even got a little in my mouth!  I sacrificed so much for my baby.  Now my baby hates me and thinks Mike Mangini is its real father!"

Going from memory, wasn't that the night JLB butchered the lyrics to the second verse?

Yea it's a shame he lost his place too because his voice was so great that night (and that tour), I'm sure he would have nailed that note, and it would have been an awesome live version of that song.
