Do you like a Song from "Train of Thought?"

With the exception of a couple of tracks that I thought were pretty awful, I like this album.
Most of it is pretty strong.

But for a lot of people this seems to be a second "Jump the Shark" moment.
Let's see if I'm right or wrong.

I've been waiting for this one.  Every song on here is a great one!  Top album for me.  I went for SoC only because it's the instrumental.  If I were to rank them, it's a tie.

Yeah, I like every song on this album. Endless Sacrifice is my favorite, just because it has everything, a little bit of a ballad, a little bit of a headbanger, and a nice chunk of wanky awesomeness in the middle.

Same here. It was my favourite when I first started getting in to the band, probably because I was coming from a more 'metal background'. Eventually I&W overtook it, but I still love the whole album.

Anyway, I voted for In the Name of God, though Endless Sacrifice isn't far behind

Honestly, Endless Sacrifice is my least favorite on the album :biggrin:

I think Train Of Thought is a strong album too, ballsy move after the ambitious SDOIT

I must have a really odd preference of DT songs, because it seems like every one of these type polls I have voted in on here, I have been the only one to pick that song (except for on Awake, with Space-Dye Vest)

Apparently I'm the only one who likes Vacant the most. For some reason this song hits me very hard emotionally. Really, the pairing of this and Stream of Consciousness is the highlight of the album, but Vacant just really stands out to me as a very powerful piece of music.

You have a lot of faulty assumptions where DT is concerned.

I voted for ITNOG. Easily a top 10 DT song for me, maybe top 5. And Vacant is criminally underrated. Gorgeous song.

It's my 2nd favorite album, and In the Name of God is my favorite song. Stream is their best instrumental to date.

As I Am: Kickass and energetic opener, sometimes when I'm in a hurry early in the morning, I pop it in to get things going.
This Dying Soul: Lots of fun, drags a bit towards the end.
Endless Sacrifice: Hands down the best song on the album, a masterpiece on every level. The lyrics clicked with me on a personal level, too.

- at this point I usually shut the album off -

Honor Thy Father: Not my cup of tea, one of those songs where DT tries too hard not to sound like DT, in a bad way. Especially the vocals. Jordan has some really neat parts though.
Vacant: I probably never listened to this song in its entirety.
Stream of Consciousness: Some pretty good moments, but doesn't grab me. Enigma Machine slays it.
In The Name of God: The "Straight is the path/Leading to your salvation" part is amazing, a golden moment from James, the rest is lacking. The chorus gets on my nerves and the instrumental section is something I'd expect to hear on a LTE album, not in an album closing epic.

ITNOG because that sometimes is even my #2 song of all time from DT but yeah. First album I ever listened to them with SoC being the first song which I really like as well but ITNOG just has it all for me.

Agreed.
SoC is probably their best instrumental, IMHO. For once they let a hook develop over time, instead of jumping from one thing to the next (which is fine in itself from time to time, but I would say TDOE kinda maxed out on that). We played the tune in my DT tribute band (here if anyone is interested), and I massively enjoyed playing it.

EDIT: That said, This Dying Soul is pure shite. Starts weak, and then takes a steep nosedive towards the end.

Honor Thy Father because this song has some real genuine hate.  It's hate metal.  That should be a genre in itself if it isn't already.  :2metal:

Voted for ITNoG.

Overall awesome album. It is especially special to me because I was a metal fan first, before I got into DT. So I always appreciate their harder stuff.

I must say though, that the album has not held up for me too well over the years. I think I honestly just listened to it too much. It was my go-to album when I used to work out, and I just listened to it on repeat.

Endless Sacrifice and Honor Thy Father are my other 2 favorites from ToT. I listened to ES FAR too many times, and sadly do not listen to it much anymore. But it is still a top 25 DT song for me.
