Tough call! At the moment, I'm going with Blind Faith but this album has so many highlights that could easily change on any given day.

By the way, what's with listing the songs out of order?

ALPHABETICAL!

But the songs from Disc Two are in chronological order because they're all part of the same "concept" or "theme."

Does THAT clear it up for you?

The Glass Prison. My love for it is starting to wane a bit these days really, but it's still easily my number 1 from the album as I've never been particularly keen on the rest of the tracks.

I unfortunately forgot to read and skipped straight to the voting, assuming the poll was only for tracks -in- the Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence song.

My choice at that time was About to Crash (Reprise). The first time I listened to it, the song was an instant click to me. It's such an upbeat and energetic song. The powerful guitar riff at the start sounds very punky, for lack of a better word. That isn't bad though. It's actually the one of the major players in the song's upbeat energy, along with the drums, which is why I adore it.

But I also hope I wasn't the only one who noticed the bass. Holy shet, that bass riff is so groovy, it contributes to the song in an indirect way; doing it's own thing, yet it's a major player in the power of the main beat.

Misunderstood, with competition from Solitary Shell and The Glass Prison.

But definitely Misunderstood.

Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence is a true musical masterpiece. How Dream Theater made a 42 minute song that's engaging, enjoyable, and cohesive throughout is a testament to their greatness.

The Great Debate takes the top spot for me!

They should bring back more Six Degrees- songs for the next tour, like The Great Debate or Misunderstood.

Not really.  Not sure why you couldn't do them ALL in chronological order, as the tracks are listed on the album.  But whatever.

I went with Blind Faith.
Hef is right on all things. Except for when I disagree with him. In which case he's probably still right.

Can we put a limit on how often people can make new threads?

Please?

It's a tie between TGP and SDOIT (the song) for me, my #1/#2 DT songs of all time (although BF may rival those these days), but I voted for SDOIT because I assumed it would need some love. I luckily assumed wrong.
Only King could mis-spell a LETTER.

Why do you you care how often anyone starts a new thread?

You can IGNORE as many of them as you WANT to, and NO one is making you participate in ANY of them.

I've seen some that I thought were really strange, and often wondered why anyone would bother with such things, but I just chose to pass them by instead of saying that they had no right to be there.

That sounds pretty confrontational, but anyway..

This is a tough decision, since I love every single song on this album for different reasons. The Glass Prison is one of my favorite aggressive tracks they've ever made, but I'm going to go with Blind Faith as my favorite. It's a whole different vibe to anything else they've ever done, and it'd be impossible for me to explain what exactly that vibe is. It's a feeling that everyone experiences differently. Sometimes, the songs that take a step back in aggressiveness (Specifically the guitar) are the ones that have the most special moments.
So fking tired of being an oversensitive naive moronic fkin bitch. I CANT STOP IT. I CANT CHANGE. IM STUCK. This world eats me alive. My purpose is simply to be what others shouldn't be. A shriveled fking beacon of sad energy. I have lost. I am lost.

Goodnight Kiss

Everything else
Yeah, I have no idea what the cakeless person in that analogy is meant to be eating. If he's got some sort of cake substitute, it should really have been worked into the narrative at some point. As it stands, the options are:

  • Hoard a cake just to stare blankly into its doughy edifice.
  • Make futile chewing motions with your mouth while starving to death.

This is an example of what I mean when I say "I've been surprised!"

It doesn't really shock me that much that the entire "Six Degrees" is ahead/winning, but I  kind of thought "The Glass Prison" would be in first or second place, and that there would be a lot of HATE for "Blind Faith."

I say this because initially (like when the album first came out) TGP was HUGELY popular.
Also I thought that I had read quite a few negative posts on this forum about BF.

I hear mostly positive things about Blind Faith, but I'm not sure if that's about the entire song or the instrumental section, because it has some of Jordans best moments.

I picked The Glass Prison though... It was kinda the easy choice. Even though I like pretty much all the other songs for their own reasons, none of them could ever match up to how badass The Glass Prison is.  :metal

Because we've had these threads a million times, but then we get new members who don't know how to use the search button rehashing old ideas, and it junks up the forum, and doesn't add anything new.
That's why I care.

SDOIT....................Blind Faith would be up there if it had a chorus of the same standard as the rest of the song.
