So special points are added to my score basically? That means I'm sharing the second place with Elite for now? I'm alright with my 7+5 then.

Edit: your second and third link for to-listen list require some editing, apparently
Yeah, but will be recounted at the end, so keep track of them during the game. And thanks for pointing out, I hope the links are working now.

Edit:
Edit 2: your to-listen list has some of the albums I love, but I guess sending you something from, say, Holy Diver, will get me precisely 1 point for the song + 2 special points; so I think I'll pass on this opportunity.  :lol
Didn't you say you'd send power metal on each round? :neverusethis:

Aw yeah! About the ending: it's a concept album, so it makes a lot more sense in context. You should definitely have a listen to the whole thing, because while for me, Amnesia is the high point, the album as a whole is still ridiculously good.

Also, sent for next round. Thanks Shadow Ninja for introducing me to the band! :P

After thinking it for a while, I've just updated the positions adding the special points to the results, to show accurately at which position you are - it just didn't make sense to count special points at the end. About your songs: good round in general, with some surprises (for the better and the worse). Whoever gets a 5, I'm terribly sorry :lol . Will post results tomorrow - just want to give all your songs a one last listen.

Fair To Midland  - vice/versa (Shadow Ninja)
I like the main riff of this thing. The calm sections are sweet, but not the great thing. The chorus is fucking great, and I love how the song flows between rock and metal. I really liked this tune, despite not having that much variety. But it's a great nonetheless. Good job dude. 8/10.

Frost* - Toys (Lucien)
This reminds me a bit of Radiohead/Muse. Not a bad thing though. I've heard of this band before. There are lots of things happening at the same time here, and it's all a bit confusing to follow. But the chorus is nice, although a bit unusual. I like the breakdown here, but the song is a bit lame, with too much of the same. 6.5/10

Star One - Cassandra Complex (Nekov)
I love Arjen's Ayreon albums, so I had high expectations on this. The starts great, with a powerful riff and I instantly notice how great the production is. But when I reach to the chorus, it lost me. Pure cheese. Arjen makes better vocal lines, that's for sure. The ones on this songs are just lame. He can do it better. The instrumental sections are kind of good, but that's all. This doesn't say me anything, sorry. 5.5/10

Umphrie's McGee - In the Kitchen (Tom Bombadil)
Oh, I love the vibe of this song. The vocal lines are ok. Not bad, but not the greatest thing ever. BUT. The instrumental sections are awesome. Definitely. There's a good chemistry between these guys, and it sounds like they're all having a great time while playing this. The chorus is really cool. 8/10

Guro Von Germeten - Fa Fa(Come Stand Before me) (Tyrias)
This is the weirdest song of the roulette. With that beginning, I really didn't expect it to be catchy. But damn this is good. I love the use of the accordion here. The singer has a gorgeous voice. Dat piano. Is that an oboe that appears at min 2? What a superb mix of violins and other unusual instruments. Cool stuff boy. I don't know what genre is this, since it mixes jazz, noir, a bit of pop. So you get the special points for that. 8.5/10

Voyager - White Shadow (Elite)
You guys seem to really like power metal, huh? Anyways, this song has some great parts, specially the beginning. It all flows great from there. Except that the chorus is quite awful :lol . But the rest is pretty awesome, specially the instrumental section of the middle. The intense part at 4.20 was quite interesting, and added some variety to the song. Cool anyways. 7.5/10

Nightingale - The One (Scorpion)
Oh dude, sorry :lol . I tried several times, but the only good thing about this tune are the synths. And they only appear here and there. The rest was pretty much cheesy. Too much. I felt tempted several times to skip it while listening it. This is just not for me. The best part? When it finished. 4/10

Blues Brothers - Rubber Biscuit (live) (jingle.boy)
This is definitely #2 when talking about weird songs. This is pretty catchy, mainly because I don't understand what the singer is saying. It is quite repetitive though. But too hilarious too. 6.5/10

Rush - Where is my thing? (mikemangioy)
I was surprised when you send me this Rush song. I don't know this album, but that's not surprise considering their huge discography. But the rurprising thing whas that you sent me an instrumental from a band I'm not keen on. You're lucky since I love Rush instrumentals, like YYZ and Villa Estrangiato. This has lots of lovely synths and a great atmosphere overall. This is probably my fav song of this round. And the catchiest. It stuck in my head after just 2 listens. I just wish the production was a bit better, but it's a great song. Such a risky move, but you earned two special points. Props dude. 9/10

Mark Knopfler - Privateering (Evermind)
I don't listen to these kind of country, mainly because I don't know artists from this genre. This song is quite good and catchy. The middle section when everything does more intense is damn awesome. I wish it had a bit more variety but it is damn great anyways. Finally somebody who liked this album/artist, it seems :lol . 8/10.

So, let me see if I get this straight.  5 bonus points for a genre and/or band you don't like?  So, the song could've been a "2", and a + 5 bonus means it'll earn 7 points?  Combine the two, and it would score 12?

There's more points to be had in sending crappy tunes from genre's and bands you don't like, than there is in sending good music.

Nah, +5 bonus applies only if he liked the song enough. Tyrias sent Kamelot song and didn't get +5 for power metal, because it wasn't good enough. I guess you have to get 7+ points for the song alone to get the bonus.

Exactly. This is just to avoid getting crappy power metal (but I'm sure you will still send it anyways). See, if I had liked enough the Isis song Tom sent for the first round, I would have given him the 5 extra points, since I dislike that band. So the purpose of this is that you have 2 options: send a song from another genre besides the ones I dislike or from a band I've never heard of before, trying to get a good mark (say, an 8) or, risking yourself with something that probably won't be my cup of tea. If it turns out to be good enough (like a 7), you will get extra points. But if not, you might just get a 5.

So tl;dr a risky choice may give you either few or lots of points. It's up to you. mikemangioy went with a ricky choice (Rush), but it turned out extremely well (theme winner, and extra points) plus the high note for the song.

Oh he has a great voice (forgot to mention that), and the band might not be entirely cheesy, but this particular song sure it was. Like they were trying something too emotional, but in a way I've seen overused lots of times. Compared to bands I feel express deep emotions through their music in a smart way (Anathema, SW/PT, even DT at times), this was pretty bad.

I realized I wasn't clear enough so I updated the OP - in the PM I sent you, I recommended you to check the OP as some info was added. If by category you mean round theme, no. It will go to whoever wins the theme of each round of the game. The extra point are valid for each round and song. Every tune may qualify for one or more extra points or not.

And some posts earlier I told you I decided to change a bit the system and directly add the special points to the current positions instead of accumulating them till the end. Which is quite the same, because you would have kept a record of all the extra points you won, thus it was more clear to just add them to the normal score. Sorry if it wasn't clear - this roulette may live up to it's name, it seems.
