Possibly my least favorite of their 10+ min songs.   The chorus just never worked for me...at all.

Fun song. Wish they'd bring it back live. And JP's solo.  :hefdaddy

Not my favorite DT track, but its definitely top 15 material.  Great tune, I love the dynamics of the song throughout. Derek's keys sound fantastic, MP gives one of his best performances and JP's solo is one for the ages. Not to mention the tasty production. Great, great stuff!

The chorus and the backing vocals seem weird and out of place (for some reason, I always get an image in my mind that John Myung is singing them and I can't help cracking up), but the rest of the song is prime and pretty much unique in the DT catalog. Amazing performance by Derek!

Actually, I always picture Derek singing those vocals for some reason, haha.

Probably that. Such a fantastic and unique DT song, and definitely a top DT song for me, but not quite my #1.

Yep. I think the only party in the MP/DT situation that hasn't moved on is DTF.

Great song, but not DT's best.

Top 10 for sure.

I must admit, it is the backing vocals that held the song back from growing on me initially. Not that I mind the style, or anything about them, dudes a good singer actually. But it's just to me, he's got a lead singer's voice. And it sounds like there's a bit of a clash when he harmonizes with James. They've both got such unique tonal qualities to their voices that they stand out well on their own, but don't necessarily blend well together. Dunno if I'm the only one that feels this way, but that's the best way I can describe how I feel about the chorus. It's still badass though.

My favorite from FII and in my top 20. Maybe not their best song though...

Definitely. I think TOT is a bit overrated to be completely honest. It's a great song but not one of their standout epics, not really one I go back to much. There are at least a few songs on FII alone that I prefer to it.

Great JP solo though.

This X100.  LitS is incredibly overrated imo.  The "Swept away with the tide" part sounds so un-DT to me, and completely out of place.  It disrupts the flow of the song.

There are so many awesome things going on in this song. It is a shame they are brought down by a too-long key intro, and the most unnecessarily annoying backing vocals.

I wouldn't call it the best on FII either.  ToT already has that spot.

Lines In The Sand is in my top 3 Dream Theater songs along with Octavarium.

Probably Six Degrees Third.
