Anyone want to go to the Animals as Leaders + Devin concert in NYC at Webster Hall on Saturday night 12/6?

I was going with a friend and he dropped out, but we haven't been able to find someone else to take his place.  Instead of selling it, I figured I'd give it to one of you guys.  Cause y'all are cool n stuff.

I would've gladly accepted it, except I already have a ticket to tomorrow's show and I don't know anyone personally who'd be interested in going.

Tonight's show was awesome.
They played a ton of new songs, which was awesome, because one of my main problems with Devin's live shows was that he tends to play the same songs over and over again. The addition of a keyboardist was pretty nice, too.

They removed the pre-show funny internet videos though, which made me sad.
...in my opinion

Devin Townsend slayed last night! Glad to finally say I saw him live. At the end of his set he shook hands with the people at the front of the barrier and fortunately for me, I was one of those people!  :metal

I listened to Dark Matters again (with the dialogue) on the way to the show, and it's really grown on me a lot. Not that I didn't like it to begin with, it's just that I needed a couple of listens for it to really sink in for me. The new songs were awesome live, and I'm glad I got to hear songs like Grace. I was a tiny bit sad that they didn't play anything off Addicted but there's always a next time.

I wish.  That's the closest show to me, but it's still a 3 hour drive one-way.  Wouldn't do that without spending the night.  Especially hard now with an infant at home.

If you're going, enjoy the show, I'm jealous!

Amazing. First time seeing Devin and Animals as Leaders. Absolutely amazing show. I'd never listened to Monuments before, but they kicked major ass.
Meet and greet was fun. Got signed setlists from DTP and AAL, and got my copies of Epicloud and Z2 signed by the DTP. Talked a bit with everyone from the DTP. Beave is the coolest guy you will ever meet. I talked with Tosin a bit. I'm going to the Atlanta Institute of Music, the same school he went to.
Devin was chill as always. I tried to control myself but I went total fanboy when I finally spoke to him. I told him how much of an impact his music has had on his life and I got him to sign my Ziltoid puppet. Also got him to prank call a friend of mine as Ziltoid  :lol

Overall, the best fuckin night of my life.

That's awesome. How long was the meet and greet?  I'm thinking about getting my DTP teddy bear I got from the Epicloud preorder signed.

It'll be my first time seeing DTP and Monuments.

And Haha that's awesome you got him to prank call your friend.

Meet and greet only lasts about 30 minutes.
Act quickly, because some people(myself included) don't know when to shut up.

Even though I rarely listen to the original Ziltoid, I still love By Your Command so damn much.

Anyway, this is to say, I'm doing my first listen of Z and Dark Matters in one go. I figure it's a good way to start a boring day off.

Oh... Yeah I'll stick with mine. I was listening to the live version of the Wacken 2014 version, and the audio is less than stellar but for some reason I love this version. Live Devy is always best to me.

Anyway that's good to know the real lyrics. But for as horny as I am after being teased to hell by my not-girlfriend-girlfriend last night, I'll find sexuality in a god damn jesus statue. Fuck.

Makes more sense that at the end Devy says "FUCKING POUND!" Good stuff.

"NO WAIT. THERE'S A FEMALE IN THE AUDIENCE... WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING HERE!?" Still one of my favorite lines of a concert. Holy shit.  :lol

I dunno, it made sense in the context of my vehemently raped mind. I was thinking like...planet smasher...'she' being some kind of ship...'blowing' being an explosion... Ziltoid fucks you up, man. Drugs ain't got SHIT. What's sad is I am SO MUCH MORE FUCKED when I'm sober than I am drunk/high. Jesus fuck.

I must say, after a lot of listens (20+) to both Sky Blue and Dark Matters I've decided that Z2 is probably my second least favourite Devin album. Personally I think that Sky Blue is decent and that the raw version of Dark Matters is better than the normal version. Other than the fact that the music does not feel as original or innovative as previous Devin albums to me, I also don't really like the fact that a few songs are based upon other, non-Devin songs (Silent Militia, March of the Poozers) or have parts of other songs in them or are heavily inspired by them (Sky Blue, Ziltoid Goes Home). I'm probably the only one though. It's not really a big deal to me; I didn't have a problem with Save Our Now either. However, it just feels like Devin didn't have as much inspiration for this album, and in my opinion, that manifests itself in the music.

The first set you listed are my favorite songs off each respective disc, and I like Sky Blue a lot too.
But yeah I'm not hugely feeling the album as a whole, Sky Blue isn't distinct enough from Epicloud for me and Dark Matters doesn't have much interesting in general, the story overtook the album far too much.

In way, DT went way overboard with Dark Matters to the point of overloaded.  I enjoy the story and the "Captain Spectacular" sound. Plus, knowing Mark did the poozer meeps makes it funny as I could see him doing them in the studio.

Honestly, I'm more curious about this "Obviouser" project he's been hinting at for years than another Ziltoid record.

This is the first I've heard of that. What has he said about it?

He's mentioned it in passing in several interviews over the past couple years. I believe he said it's supposed to be creepy bass-oriented music with an Icelandic choir. With that description I'd expect it to sound like the songs Drench and Mend off of the Casualties bonus disc.

He's recently said that he wants to play more bass after he's done with all this touring for Z2, so maybe this is the next project in line.

I actually asked him about this at the meet and greet. He said he's trying not to commit himself to too many projects at once, and to not expect it anytime soon, but that it would be pretty heavy.

Beave mentioned that there was a track that they cut from Sky Blue that had Anneke on lead vocals. I asked if it would ever see the light of day, and he said it will definitely be on the next DTP album, which Dev is currently writing.

Just started listening to Devin, been bored at work and wanted to try something new.  I found his Retinal Circus concert and holy crap.  Its insane and yet really good and intriguing.  I ended up purchasing the Blu Ray immediately.  I havent listened to any of his albums so this is all new to me.
