Sword is a completely unknown band, but their debut "metalized" is drenched in metal and one of my all time favorite discs

Not a bad album except I bought it thinking it was *The* Sword from Texas

I saw Voivod on the Rrroooaaarrr tour opening up for Celtic Frost, and then again on the Nothingface tour opening up for Soundgarden. Talk about practically two different bands!

I love Voivod. Their new album is nothing short of amazing...a real grower though.

How about some old school Canadian metal? April Wine anyone?

I had to bump this thread because I just HAVE to mention what is possibly the most criminally underrated band in all of Canada.

THE TEA PARTY

And I say this as someone who definitely hasn't tapped into their full potential yet.    All I can say is that I own Edge of Twilight and Transmission.   EoT is one of the most amazing albums I have EVER heard.   Top to bottom *sick* album.   Transmission lost me a bit, but I think I need to wipe the dust off that album and listen to it again, because every time I hear a new buzz about these guys, it reminds me of how amazing EoT is, and how much I wish I had been more patient with them and checked out the rest of their stuff.   Fans of them sing their praises of every note.

Maybe someone can tell me what should be my next album purchase from them?  I was really excited to hear they had recently reunited.

Just checked them out...they sound awesome man.

Very original sounding. I love the fact that they tap into ethic instruments too.

The singers voice is really cool. It almost has a bit of a Scott Weiland-esque tone to it, and in some songs I even got a very tiny hint of a 50's style vocalist such as Elvis. Or even the guy from Timber Timbre.

Really liked the song "Correspondences" from The Edges Of Twilight.

Thanks for illuminating this to us.

My personal favorites from that album are "Fire in the Head" and "Sister Awake"....the acoustic instrumental "The Badger" is also a favorite.  But that whole album is pure GOLD.

EDIT: The lead singer always struck me as a Jim Morrison impressionist....albiet a very good one.    To me the band is a blend between Zeppelin, The Doors, and Tool.

Jim Morrison...Yes, that's it!

It was killing me, I knew he sounded like someone else too.

I will check those songs out. I've listened to about 5 of them, but none of them happened to be any of the ones you listed.

But it's uplifting and wickedly funny as well, not to mention that the real happy ending comes after the movie, as a direct result of the film. I'm really into the bittersweet comedy of the likes of Louie C.K., so the humor and the characters here clicked with me instantly and I was laughing all the way through.
