Interesting, but isn't that the point of Noise rock?

I'm even less of an authority on noise rock. :lol

Apologies for the inactivity in this thread. I should have another update coming pretty soon.

The I heard Spiderland was the first post-rock album, I didn't expect it to be that... weird. I don't even know how it is even related to post-rock.

Post-rock mainly refers to using rock instruments for "non rock" purposes.

Not really. Noise rock is still pretty clearly defined rock, while post-rock seems to blur the lines quite often.

Leaves Turn Inside You is one of the most indescribable albums out there. It's amazing, but I can never properly articulate why. It just is. Great stuff. :heart

still can't get over the fact that after recording them, someone listened to the lines and thought "yep, now THAT is what we were going for.  Awesome stuff!"

If I covered every single song on these albums in each of my write-ups, they'd end up three times as long. :lol But I do have a lot of love for Skinny Love. It's a fantastic song and probably did deserve a spot on my "Favorite Tracks" there.

Right on with Funeral. As a guy who thinks Neon Bible is pretty great but nothing overly special, and that Suburbs and Reflektor are boring, Funeral is still amazing and has a special place in my heart. That album brings a weird sense of nostalgia and wonder-like emotion like so few albums do.

I recall listening to Paranoid ofr the first time some weeks ago and it was anything but metal :lol . Like I&W, Pink Floyd it's an essential band for any top 50 list in DTF. What they did with DSotM is truly timeless. Each time I listen to it, I can't believe it was done recorded than 40 years ago.

You must have a pretty skewed idea of what metal is then. :lol

To be fair, I listened to their debut, Master of Reality, Paranoid and the one with angels on one run, so I might be talking about the wrong album :lol .

Might you be referring to their debut? With the exception of the title track, most of the songs on there are pretty bluesy. Not to say it isn't still metal, but I could see why someone more accustomed to more extreme forms of metal would think otherwise.

Keep in mind that they were the pioneers. Listening to their debut is listening to the birth of a genre.

Yeah, I think it was that - it reminded me a bit of King Crimson. But well, modern prog is little like ItCotKC, so I get your point.

Meh, Terria is ok. Never got the praise it receives, since Devin has far better albums. Maybe it's time it give it another listen, just to see if it click on me.

Indeed. It blows me away how each song is damn catchy, and different from each other. Amazing.

I still have to get fully into Sigur Ros (someone please make a discography thread), and knew ( ) and loved it enough to put it in my top 50. But there are no words no express how much my mind was blown when I first listened to Ágætis byrjun. It was more beautiful and warmer than the other. Wonderful :heart .
