This first band is Soen very cool swingy jazz fusion kinda stuff.

Hmm...I've just worked out that this is bigger than I thought it would be. Under my usual 2-day rounds, we're talking about this running well into mid-August 2015, and that's not even counting any tiebreakers that may crop up. So I will most likely run 1-day rounds for the majority of the survivor.

If you're going to include all those extra songs from '92 - '96, why are you skipping out on the Futile EP and the Deadwing bonus tracks? Futile's got some amazing stuff, especially.

Also, I'd include Moonloop Coda as a separate track for TSMS.

I wonder how many people would vote for those songs. When I got to the bonus songs on the SW solo survivor I did last year, the voting numbers dropped hugely, to the point where in one round, I had to cast the only vote. I really don't want to resort to that again; it was horrible.

I thought about Moonloop, and there are so many different edits of it available, I just thought I'd include it as a single piece, and people can vote on it (or let it progress) based on whatever version they've heard.

I think significantly more people have heard the Futile songs and the Deadwing bonus tracks than all the '92-'96 extras. I certainly haven't ever bothered to check those all out.

I'd at the very least include Futile, as it's a full EP with five songs not found anywhere else.

I will include Futile (minus the live Hatesong), and the Deadwing bonus tracks in a new tournament. But is it worth including the 2004 version of Shesmovedon? Is it significantly different from the version on Lightbulb Sun?

PS. You've got a month or two to check out the 92-96 songs. :P

This is gonna be great! like many have said, I'm alot more familiar with the Futile and Deadwing bonus songs than I am with the 92-96 bonus stuff and even OTSOL. I agree about Shesmovedon 04 though.

I like the 2004 version a lot better, but nah. It's pretty much the same song, it just sounds better.

I'll be away from today until the 17th (hence why I'm starting it when I am). Just an advance heads-up that for the first round of the OTSOL tournament, you'll be able to vote for FIVE songs, and we will eliminate at least that many.

This looks good so far, although I wish Nil Recurring was included with FOABP since that's how I listen to it anymore, using the official LP Vinyl track list that includes the NR tracks with FOABP.

Either way, I cannot wait to get to the later albums, those will be quite interesting to see how they pan out!

This is amazing. Thanks for putting in the hard work it takes to conduct such a large poll.

I am headed over to the poll posts now to vote.

I've been fiending to discuss PT, as they are my favorite band other than DT. PT does not have its own forum (at least not with a community anywhere near as big as DTF), so these polls are a great way to discuss this amazing band.

Thanks again!

Well, it's all over. YOUR CHAMPION, WITH 11 VOTES TO 17, IS...

:metal ANESTHETIZE :metal

Dark Matter finished in 2nd place, well ahead of all the other 90s songs, and Arriving Somewhere completes the podium places.

Once again, a big thank you to everyone who's taken part in the survivor during the last 5 months or so. The full results of the Finals, plus every other album tournament, are in the first post at the top of the page.

If there's enough interest, I wouldn't mind doing the next Steven Wilson Survivor, but not for a few months yet. Maybe starting in the summer, to give people more time to digest Hand Cannot Erase.

Until then, thank you and goodnight!

Yeah, Anesthetize is far from even being the best song on FOABP :lol

Regardless, Dark Matter is my favourite PT song, so I'm glad that one came out high. As for the rest of the top 10, I don't think any of the tracks would be in my personal top 10, save for maybe Way Out of Here.

Thanks for running this RoeDent!

Though I'm not thrilled with the top 3, lots of my favorites ended up in the top 10. Man, that seemed to last forever  :lol

Thanks for running this, RoeDent! :tup

Anesthetize is my favorite PT song, so I'm glad it won. Dark Matter is in my top 5 as well, and I rank Heartattack, WOOH, ASK and DHM pretty highly, but the rest of the results would be totally different if it was up to me, including TSMS, Stars Die, Lips of Ashes, Gravity Eyelids, etc.

Why is Deadwing in the consolation and final rounds?
I don't know how they can be so proud of winning with them odds. - Little Big Man

Why is Deadwing in the consolation and final rounds?

What do you mean?

Deadwing finished 3rd in its album tournament, so it got into Consolation. I allowed the top 3 from Consolation to progress to the Finals, and DW finished 3rd in Consolation, so that's how it got in the Finals.
